It’s best to travel with a large backpack or soft luggage. Hard suitcases with wheels are not ideal for rural routes or 4WD vehicles.
Bring a small daypack (preferably waterproof or with a rain cover), especially if traveling during the rainy season (November–March).

Vaccination booklet (optional but useful)

Clothing:
From April to October, pack warm clothes for cool evenings in the highlands (fleece, long pants, scarf, thick socks).
For trekking, bring sturdy, waterproof hiking boots (preferably ankle-high).
A windbreaker or waterproof jacket (K-way or Gore-Tex).
Swimwear, sarong, shorts, or lightweight clothing for the coast.
A hat or cap for sun protection.
A casual outfit for dinners or evenings out.
Sandals or comfortable walking shoes.
Toiletries and health items:
Basic first-aid kit
Feminine hygiene products (difficult to find locally)
Hand sanitizer and wipes
Mosquito repellent or citronella oil
Sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher)
Sunglasses (UV protection category 3 or higher)
Biodegradable detergent for handwashing clothes
Other useful items:
Camera (with zoom, spare battery, or solar charger)
Notebook and pen for journaling
For adventure trips: multi-tool, flashlight, sleeping bag, inflatable pillow
Most lodges and hotels provide bedsheets, soap, and towels.
