The Indonesian state recognizes six official religions including: Islam, Protestantism, Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Confucianism.
The Indonesian population is predominantly Muslim with 90% of its population registered as faithful practitioners of Islam.
Christians who are often divided between Catholicism and Protestantism represent 7% of the population. They are mainly distributed in the east of the archipelago, on the islands Flores, Timo or Sumba.
2% of the population in Indonesia alone are Hindu and 1% of Indonesians practice religions: Buddhist and Confucian. They are found mainly on the island of Bali.
