Seven thatched-roof residences on the west coast of Koh Phangan, close to Hin Kong, Chao Phao and Srithanu beaches. Human-scaled 4-star boutique resort.

On the west coast of Koh Phangan, the Amaya Boutique Resort brings together seven thatched-roof residences within a tropical garden, steps away from Hin Kong, Chao Phao and Srithanu beaches. A human-scaled property rated 4-star, designed for a peaceful retreat between sea and forest.

Why choose Amaya Boutique Resort

With just seven rooms, the establishment eschews the logic of sprawling resorts. The vision is that of a boutique hotel: timber and thatch architecture, lush garden, farm-to-table dining and on-site sports coaching. The west coast of Koh Phangan, quieter than the boisterous east, suits a stay oriented toward relaxation, swimming and occasional excursions to the island's highlights.

Atmosphere and architecture

The seven residences are arranged around a central pool, with loungers and shaded areas along the café-restaurant. Thatched roofs, timber furnishings and muted textiles compose a décor where local craftsmanship meets contemporary lines. Sliding glass doors allow light and breeze to flow freely, and each room opens onto a timber terrace equipped with a hammock.

The rooms

Amaya offers two categories, all 35 m² with king-size bed and private bathroom.

  • Pool view (4 units): designed for couples, with sleeping area, lounge corner and direct access to the pool from the private terrace.
  • Garden view (3 units): split across two spaces to preserve bedroom privacy, featuring an efficient kitchenette, lounge-dining area and furnished terrace (chairs, tables, hammock). Supplementary bed available upon request.

Dining and services

The café-restaurant overlooks the pool, in a shaded and airy space open all day for hot and cold beverages. The menu evolves seasonally, with the majority of ingredients sourced organic from local farmers and a clear commitment to wholesome, balanced cuisine. On the services front, sports coaches are on-site for guests wishing to maintain physical activity during their stay. Staff can arrange transfers from ports or the airport.

Location

The resort sits on the island's west coast, near Hin Kong, Chao Phao and Srithanu beaches, renowned for their sunsets over the Gulf of Thailand. Phaeng Waterfall lies roughly 6 km away. To reach the property:

  • By air: Koh Samui airport (neighbouring island), then ferry to Koh Phangan.
  • By ferry: departures from Surat Thani on the mainland, disembarking at Thong Sala or Chaloklum.

Private transfers can be arranged directly by the resort.

When to visit

Koh Phangan's tropical climate spans three distinct periods. December to April brings the dry season with optimal conditions for swimming and boat excursions. May to September see rising humidity, though showers typically remain brief. October to November concentrates the heaviest rainfall, especially on the east coast. Note: the Full Moon Party draws significant crowds each month around Haad Rin, at the opposite end of the coast from Amaya, allowing you to choose between tranquility and occasional access to the event.

Around the area

Koh Phangan lends itself to boat excursions to neighbouring islands, notably Koh Tao and Koh Nang Yuan, prized for coral reef diving. The island's interior harbours several waterfalls and viewpoints, while the west coast strings together quieter coves and beaches than the south-east.
