When should I travel to Egypt?
Egypt can be visited year-round, but avoid summer (scorching temperatures). The best period runs from October to May. Be aware of the khamsin (sandstorm) in March-April, which may disrupt sightseeing.
The best times to travel
October to February : ideal climate with pleasant temperatures (20-25°C) and little precipitation. Perfect for visiting archaeological sites and navigating the Nile.
March to May : still bearable temperatures but watch out for the khamsin (sand wind) in March-April which can make excursions unpleasant.
Periods to avoid or adapt
Summer (June to September) : scorching temperatures often exceeding 40°C, particularly difficult to endure when visiting monuments. The coasts remain however practicable.
To remember
- The Red Sea beaches remain pleasant even in winter thanks to the warm and sunny climate
- The khamsin (sand wind) occurs mainly in March-April
- The Egyptian winter allows you to fully enjoy the sites without the stifling heat
