Mae Salong

Mae Salong is the most renowned site among travelers seeking to admire tea plantations in Thailand. It is the name of a mountain situated at the Burmese border in Chang Rai Province, deep in the heart of the famous Golden Triangle. It is more precisely around the small village of Santikhiri, nestled on the mountainside, where you'll find most of the region's tea plantations. Once used for opium cultivation, these lands now welcome a variety of Chinese tea known as "oolong" (translated from Chinese as 'black dragon').

Among the most well-known producers, you can mention 101 Tea plantation or Wang Put Tan. When you visit, you'll have the privilege of enjoying a tea tasting, admiring the sumptuous landscapes, and making a few purchases if you wish to bring back local products as travel souvenirs!
