The spirit of travel
This circuit offers us an atypical adventure on the White Beach, a wild desert region located on the Atlantic coast, between Guelmim and Tan-Tan, approximately six hours' drive south of Agadir. Still preserved from mass tourism, this part of Moroccan territory appeals through the diversity of its landscapes and its timeless atmosphere. Throughout the journey, we alternate between immense beaches, spectacular cliffs, estuaries, gorges, sand dunes, verdant oases, former French forts and fishing villages. Hiking, 4x4 journeys and nights in bivouac allow you to discover this wild nature up close. Between the Atlantic Ocean and the gates of the Sahara, this adventure offers an authentic immersion in a little-known region, where encounters, wide open spaces and contrasting landscapes punctuate each day, in a convivial and exotic atmosphere, far from conventional routes.

Highlights
Day-by-day itinerary

Taroudant – Afensou
Taroudant → Afensou
We arrive at Agadir airport.
According to our flight schedule, we can reach Taroudant on the same day.
From Taroudant, we need 45 minutes to reach the Berber village of Afensou where the Jebel Aoulime mountain stands, reaching up to 3,500 meters in altitude.
We are welcomed at our guesthouse: the Terraces of the Atlas, where we can enjoy the hammam, local music as well as a Berber dinner.

Warm-up Activities in the High Atlas
Today, we embark on a warm-up activity. For this, we have to choose between hiking, a mountain bike ride through the mountains or a mule trek.
We spend the night at the « Terraces of the Atlas ».

Afensou - Tiznit - Fort Noun
Afensou → Tiznit
We walk in the footsteps of the Goums. These latter represent an army composed of French officers and Berber soldiers building and occupying the forts in the region.
We are then transferred from Afensou to Tiznit to have lunch in a simple local restaurant, in the medina within the city walls (4-hour journey).

Fort Noun - Aoreora Estuary
Fort Noun → Aoreora
We start the day with an hour-long drive on a 4x4 track and road in the Anti-Atlas to reach the end of the white beach.
In the morning, we set off on a beautiful beach walk covering 28 km on foot and by car, between the ocean and sandy cliffs gradually becoming dunes. We have the opportunity to observe several bird species, especially if the tour takes place between autumn and spring.
In the afternoon, we have a wide choice to continue the walk: along a gorge, between the dunes, on the cliffs, on the beach to an old French fort, near the fishermen's huts…
We go wild camping in the Aoreora dunes.
We head to the ridge of the dunes where we have appetizers.
Tasting a grilled fish barbecue.
We can also enjoy desert activities.

Cap Aoreora
We continue the beach hike while the 4x4 drives along 12 km of cliffs. We then meet up at the cape on the cliff, after passing through the barchan dunes which are isolated and crescent-shaped. We may find mussels and other shellfish.
We meet fishermen in their camp.
Dinner with the fishermen and night at the camp.

Drâa Estuary
Aoreora → Estuaire du Drâa
We take a 4x4 track to admire the Drâa estuary.
We then continue with a picnic and a walk on the beach.
Trekking up to 15 km depending on our ability on a vast wild desert plateau, with isolated dunes, wild camels as well as sandy mountains allowing us to stop for wild camping.

Legzira Arches
Estuaire du Drâa → Legzira
We follow the old French fort Tafnidilt before taking the main road connecting Tan Tan to Sidi Ifni and the coastal road leading to Legzira.
We make sure to take a walk on the Legzira beach to admire spectacular natural arches (4 hours of travel with an option for an easy 2-hour walk for approximately 10 km).
Accommodation with half board in a simple hotel in Legzira located on the beach. Some rooms have a bathroom and offer ocean views.

What I love about travel is that moment when you leave the obvious path. That's when the landscape shifts, but more importantly, so does your perspective.
