The information below concerns travelers who are nationals of the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, and Canada traveling to Martinique for a tourism stay. As entry rules may change, we recommend verifying the information with official authorities before your departure.

Passport and identity documents

Martinique is a French overseas department and region, an integral part of the European Union. As such, no particular entry formalities are required for nationals of the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland.

EEA and Swiss citizens may enter Martinique with a valid passport or national identity card. The document must be in good condition (no damaged, torn, or altered pages).

Canadian nationals must be in possession of a valid passport for the duration of their stay.

Tourism stay

For nationals of the EEA and Switzerland, the length of stay is not limited as such, as Martinique is part of French and European territory.

Canadian nationals benefit from a visa exemption for tourism stays in France (including its overseas departments), within the Schengen area. This exemption allows a stay of up to 90 days within a 180-day period across the entire Schengen area.

Travel with children

Minors must hold their own valid travel document (passport or, for EEA nationals, national identity card) covering the duration of the stay.

When a minor travels without one of their parents, an exit authorization from the territory may be required depending on the regulations of the country of residence. Families are invited to inquire with the competent authorities of their country before departure.

Health

No vaccine is mandatory to enter Martinique. However, certain health recommendations apply:

  • dengue vaccination may be recommended, as this disease is present on the island,

  • protection against mosquitoes (repellents, covering clothing) is strongly advised,

  • it is recommended to consult a doctor or international vaccination center before departure to obtain personalized advice.

Other nationalities

Entry conditions may vary depending on nationality. Travelers concerned should inquire at the French embassy or consulate of their country of residence.
