Passport and identity documents

Martinique is a French overseas department and region, an integral part of the European Union. As such, no particular entry formalities are required for nationals of the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland.

EEA and Swiss citizens may enter Martinique with a valid passport or national identity card. The document must be in good condition (no damaged, torn, or altered pages).

Canadian nationals must be in possession of a valid passport for the duration of their stay.

When a minor travels without one of their parents, an exit authorization from the territory may be required depending on the regulations of the country of residence. Families are invited to inquire with the competent authorities of their country before departure.

Health

No vaccine is mandatory to enter Martinique. However, certain health recommendations apply:

  • dengue vaccination may be recommended, as this disease is present on the island,

  • protection against mosquitoes (repellents, covering clothing) is strongly advised,

  • it is recommended to consult a doctor or international vaccination center before departure to obtain personalized advice.
