The spirit of travel
The expedition begins with a guided tour of Kathmandu, then Pokhara. After visiting the 2 largest urban centers in the country, immerse yourself in the south of Annapurna in the Modi Khola valley for a 6-day trek. Stop in villages in the region and soak up Gurung culture through their culinary specialties.
During the day you will cross unforgettable landscapes: lush forests, terraced rice fields, valleys dotted with rhododendrons and don't forget the viewpoints over the greatest peaks such as Annapurna I and Machhapuchhre.
This trek is aimed at travelers who are wary of high altitude. It is an introduction to trekking, ideal therefore for a first experience at altitude, as you will neither suffer from altitude sickness nor from lack of oxygen.

Day-by-day itinerary

Arrival in Kathmandu
Welcome and assistance by our representative at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. A short drive takes you to your hotel where you can rest for a while. The welcome drink will be an opportunity to present the program and review the necessary documents for your trekking permit.

Visit of the main sites of Kathmandu
The Swayambunath stupa, also called the Monkey Temple, is erected on a hill overlooking Kathmandu and is surrounded by several other temples.
Pashupatinath, one of the sacred temples of South Asia, dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.
You can see the river and the cremation rituals that are followed on the banks of the river. It will remind you of Varanasi (Benares) in India.
Visit the famous stupa of Boudhanath, one of the main Buddhist sanctuaries in the region surrounded by numerous monasteries and Tibetan shops.

Flight to Pokhara, trek to Birethanti
Upon arrival, you are welcomed by your guide and meet the trekking team, before taking the road to Nayapul.
Then a half hour's walk takes you to the village of Birethanti and your lodge.

The Discovery of the Gurkhas Village
After breakfast, you leave the lodge and cross the cultivated lands and small scattered farms. You follow the right bank of the Modi Khola, the river that descends from the Annapurna Sanctuary, heading generally northward with the impressive sacred peak of Machhapuchhre (fish tail) before us. Soon you begin to climb out of the valley and towards the mountains. The trail crosses small hamlets, terraced rice fields and forests with spectacular views over the surrounding valley. You arrive at the Himalaya Lodge in Ghandruk in early afternoon. From the lodge you enjoy the magnificent view of the row of peaks of the Annapurna massif.

Descent and Ascent to Landruk
After enjoying a relaxing breakfast and the glorious views of the Himalaya Lodge, you begin your trek to Landruk. After leaving the village of Ghandruk, the trail descends to the banks of the Modi River. Here, you can see some of the cliffs where Nepal's famous honey hunters climb on ropes to attack the nests of the world's largest (and most dangerous) honeybee species. You cross the river on a suspension bridge and from there, you take a trail back to the village of Landruk from where you can enjoy one of the greatest views of the Annapurnas.
After lunch at the La Bee lodge, your guide will take you on a guided tour of this lovely mountain village.

Trek to Majhgaon Village
Leaving Landruk and the Modi Khola valley, today's walk takes you across the valley to the east and heads south through picturesque villages and agricultural lands with spectacular views of the Annapurnas. You arrive at Ker and Downey - Gurung Lodge near Majhgaon in time for lunch. The lodge is built to resemble a traditional Népal village and each room has a spectacular view of the valley and surrounding mountains.
The afternoon can be spent in the lodge gardens or you can choose to explore the neighboring villages with our guide.

Dhampus
This morning, you cross the village of Patlekhet, which has managed to preserve its authenticity. Your trek then takes you through subtropical forests, particularly favored by orchids, rhododendrons and magnolias. Along the way, you stop at the village of Pothana, where you can meet with many Tibetan traders.

Descent to Phedi and then transfer to Pokhara

Road to Bandipur and 4-hour hike to Ghamalchhap
You wake up with a cup of tea or coffee in your rooms. If the mountains are clear, you can sit in your private verandas and enjoy the spectacular view of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I and Makalu. Then, after breakfast, you set off on a short walk to visit 2 local schools. You can also choose to walk to a higher viewpoint from where the panorama of the mountains to the north is even more impressive. You return to the lodge for lunch, then go with the guide to visit a few local villages, where you may meet retired Gurkhas. This region has been little visited and retains much of its charm. You will then spend a second night at Three Mountain Lodge.
Transfer to Bandipur. Bandipur was established as a funnel point for trade on the India - Tibet trade route by the Newar, merchants from Bhaktapur in the Katmandou valley.
After the visit, you descend at a leisurely pace to your lodge in Ghamalchhap. In the afternoon, your guide arranges a visit to the Gurung village with the possibility to enjoy the traditional dances of this ethnic group.

Return to Kathmandu
After breakfast, you take the same path as the day before in order to reach Bandipur.

Activity Day in Kathmandu
Today you have a choice, you can enjoy the day strolling through Kathmandu or ask us for a guided tour of the city's main sites.
We offer you the opportunity to participate in an immersive and exclusive activity with a traditional craftsman. Choose from: cooking class, sculpture, painting, music and much more. A fun activity for the whole family. The best souvenir you can bring back!

The document must be in good condition (no damaged, torn, or altered pages).
Tourist visa
Unlike some destinations, Nepal does not grant visa exemptions to nationals of the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and Canada. A tourist visa is mandatory to enter the territory.
This visa can be obtained in two ways:
On arrival (visa on arrival): available at the main entry points, notably Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and certain land border crossings. It is strongly recommended to complete the application form online before departure to facilitate procedures on site.
Online before departure: via the official online visa system of the Nepalese government (online visa application), allowing you to obtain prior authorization to present upon arrival.
Official rates are as follows:
15 days: 30 USD
30 days: 50 USD
90 days: 125 USD
Payment is generally made in cash (USD, EUR, or other accepted currencies) or by credit card depending on the entry points. It is advisable to have US dollars in cash for payment on site.
The authorities may also request:
an exit ticket from the territory (return flight or onward journey),
proof of sufficient financial resources for the duration of your stay.
Online arrival form
Before your arrival, it is recommended to complete the online arrival form available on the official portal of the Nepalese government. This form allows you to provide immigration authorities with:
passport information
flight details
the address of your first accommodation in Nepal
A digital confirmation or a reference code may be requested when passing through immigration or at the visa issuance counter upon arrival.
Special permits for trekking areas
Certain regions of Nepal require additional permits in addition to the tourist visa:
the TIMS (Trekkers' Information Management System): mandatory for most trekking itineraries,
national park or conservation area permits (e.g., Sagarmatha for Everest, Annapurna Conservation Area),
restricted zone permits for certain specific destinations such as Mustang, Dolpo, or Manaslu.
These permits are generally obtained in Kathmandu or Pokhara from the relevant offices.
Health and vaccinations
No vaccine is mandatory to enter Nepal, except in case of arrival from a country at risk of yellow fever. However, several vaccinations are strongly recommended by health authorities:
hepatitis A and B,
typhoid,
diphtheria-tetanus-poliomyelitis (DTP),
rabies (especially for extended stays or in remote areas),
Japanese encephalitis (depending on areas and season).
Preventive antimalarial treatment may be recommended for certain low-altitude regions (Terai). It is advisable to consult a doctor or international vaccination center at least four to six weeks before departure.
Traveling with children

In certain European countries, when a minor travels without one of their parents, an exit authorization from the territory may be required according to the regulations of the country of residence.
