Characterful boutique hotel housed in a wooden mansion in Bangkok Noi, overlooking a canal. Thematic rooms designed by Ban Bu artisans.

Siam Motif Boutique Hotel occupies a wooden mansion in the Bangkok Noi district, on the banks of a khlong (canal). Located 3 km from the historic center and 2 km from Khao San Road, the property offers around ten thematic rooms decorated by artisans from Ban Bu, a community located just steps away from the hotel.

Why choose Siam Motif

The establishment combines three assets rarely found together in the Thai capital. First, its setting on a canal, in a residential neighborhood still sheltered from tourist bustle, within easy reach of major sites on the western bank of the Chao Phraya. Second, interiors entrusted to Ban Bu artisans, whose craftsmanship is recognized throughout the country. Third, its small-scale format that prioritizes attention to detail over volume.

The property suits travelers seeking characterful accommodation rather than an international chain, without straying far from Bangkok's main attractions.

Atmosphere and character

The house is organized around wooden balconies overlooking the khlong, the garden, or the street. Long-tail boats regularly pass along the canal, marking the rhythm of the day. On the common areas, the establishment offers a bar and library, as well as a play area for families.

The atmosphere remains that of a village-like Bangkok neighborhood, dotted with local markets, temples, and artisan workshops. The contrast with the buzz of Sukhumvit or Silom is intentional.

The rooms

Rooms range from 15 to 25 m². Each bears a name and distinct decorative theme, handcrafted by Ban Bu artisans: indigo, golden crane, celadon green, porcelain, charcoal, motif, floral, kangkow. Walls, textiles, and decorative elements echo the chosen theme.

All feature a wooden balcony with views over the river, garden, or city, a private bathroom, and standard amenities (flat-screen television, Wi-Fi, refrigerator, wardrobe). The floor area remains modest: added value lies in the decorative craftsmanship and connection to the outside, not square footage.

Services offered

  • Airport shuttle service (Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang), to be arranged through reception
  • Bicycle rentals to explore the alleyways and canal banks
  • Thai cooking classes on request
  • Shared bar and library
  • Children's play area

The establishment does not have private parking, but parking options exist in the neighborhood. Pets are not accepted.

Location and access

Address: 79 Soi Watsrisudaram, Bang Khun Non Rd., Bangkoknoi, 10700 Bangkok. The hotel is located approximately 2 km from Khao San Road and 3 km from Bangkok's historic center (eastern bank of the Chao Phraya).

From Suvarnabhumi International Airport, expect around 30 kilometers and approximately 45 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on traffic. Don Mueang secondary airport, used for domestic and regional budget flights, is slightly closer. The hotel shuttle simplifies arrival, particularly after a long-haul flight.

What to see nearby

The Bangkok Noi district is renowned for its canals, floating markets, and artisan traditions. Within walking distance, the Ban Bu community crafts monks' alms bowls: an alloy of tin and bronze, polished with stone to achieve a smooth, lustrous finish. The workshops are open to visitors and offer the chance to interact directly with artisans.

The Royal Barge Museum is less than 5 minutes' drive away. On the opposite bank, the historic center concentrates the Grand Palace, Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha), and Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn), all accessible by boat or taxi. The Bangkok National Museum rounds out a visit nicely.

To extend your Bangkok stay, other characterful addresses deserve attention, such as Baan Noppawong or Casa Vimaya, in similar registers.
