Na Nirand Boutique Resort
Na Nirand Boutique Resort
A 19th-century mansion converted into a boutique resort on the Ping River, just minutes from Chiang Mai's historic center.
On the banks of the Ping River, a few minutes from Chiang Mai's historic center, Na Nirand Boutique Resort occupies a 19th-century mansion converted into a charming accommodation. The property cultivates a boutique identity nourished by the location's history, Lanna architecture, and the legends surrounding its historic orchard.
Why stay here
Na Nirand first seduces through its setting: a former 19th-century mansion preserved in its original envelope, positioned directly on the banks of the Ping River. The interior décor revisits Lanna aesthetics and the merchant-era 19th-century colonial elegance, without heavy-handed decoration. The establishment appeals to travelers seeking a peaceful retreat within immediate proximity of the city center, to couples who appreciate accommodations with strong architectural character, and to stays tied to weddings or ceremonies.
The resort holds certification from the Health and Safety Council of the Thai Tourism Authority, and its reception team communicates in English and Japanese.
Atmosphere: a mansion and its legends
The central garden is dominated by a century-old rain tree. Local tradition recounts that it was planted by the first head of the Royal Forest Department. A second legend, tied to the orchard, evokes the marriage between a princess of Haripunchai and a Bangkok nobleman celebrated on these lands. The resort claims this romantic heritage and has integrated it into its positioning, notably around wedding ceremonies and couple getaways.
The atmosphere remains that of a residential estate rather than a grand hotel: modest scale, tree-lined pathways, river views from several common areas.
Rooms and suites
The hotel offers three accommodation categories, each built around a distinct decorative theme:
- 39 luxury rooms from 31 m², equipped with standard amenities of a high-end establishment.
- 2 corner Romantic Lanna suites on the ground floor, 53 m², décor inspired by Lanna art.
- Colonial suites with river views, 65 to 73 m². Four variations recreate the interiors of merchant families settled in Chiang Mai in the 19th century: British-Indian suite, Burmese suite, Chinese suite, and Thai suite.
Recurring decorative elements include handcrafted cushions, wood engravings above headboards, and black lacquered wooden cabinets with motifs inspired by the Lanna way of life.

Dining, events and services
The main restaurant is installed in a vintage-style pavilion overlooking the Ping River. A former rice barn, preserved on the grounds, serves as the setting for intimate dinners and traditional Thai weddings. The Garden of Eternal Love welcomes outdoor ceremonies, and the riverbank itself can be privatized for receptions.
For a couple's stay, the hotel organizes candlelit dinners on request, at the bar terrace or in the rice barn. An outdoor terrace also allows for organizing barbecue evenings.
Location
The exact address of the resort is: 1/1 Soi 9 Charoen Prathet Rd, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai 50100. The city center is accessible in less than ten minutes by car, the night bazaar in about ten minutes on foot, and the international airport is located approximately 5 km away. This location, both on the riverbank and in immediate proximity to the lively Chang Khlan neighborhood, is one of the resort's practical advantages.
What to see nearby
Chiang Mai was the capital of the Lanna kingdom from the 13th to the 17th century, and the old city surrounded by moats preserves a rare density of monuments:
- Wat Phra Singh, one of the most revered temples in the city.
- Wat Chai Mongkhon, on the river's edge, a short distance from the resort.
- Tha Phae Gate, the historic eastern gate of the enclosure.
- The night market, a few minutes on foot.
