DaraDao
Wooden stilt bungalows facing the rice paddies of Chiang Dao, with views of Doi Chiang Dao and an on-site pool.
DaraDao brings together about a dozen stilt bungalows nestled amid the rice paddies of Chiang Dao, in northern Thailand. The property embraces peaceful countryside living, near Chiang Dao mountain, the country's second-highest peak.
Why stay here?
- Wooden stilt bungalows connected by wooden bridges, positioned directly facing the rice paddies
- Unobstructed views of the misty peaks of Doi Chiang Dao
- On-site pool — still a rare amenity in this rural corner of the north
- Complimentary bikes at reception to explore surrounding villages
- Breakfast included, served on the terrace overlooking the rice fields
Atmosphere
The property embraces rural simplicity rather than resort formality. The bungalows are linked by wooden walkways that cross above the rice paddies, creating a landscape of separate, intimate units. The soundscape is that of the countryside: insects, birds, wind. As night falls, the silhouette of Doi Chiang Dao emerges through the mist.
The outdoor dining area serves local specialties and doubles as a gathering point as evening approaches. The pool, bordered by sun loungers, overlooks the rice fields and distant peaks.
The bungalows
The accommodations are wooden stilt bungalows, designed to blend seamlessly with the landscape. The structure features expansive glass windows that open widely onto the surroundings and flood the interior with natural light. The layout is straightforward: king-size bed, private terrace facing the rice paddies, equipped bathroom.
The included breakfast can be taken in your room or on the terrace. Air conditioning and modern amenities round out the offering without compromising the property's rustic character.
