Papua, Dani Tribes of the Baliem Valley

This tour offers a rare and exclusive encounter with the Dani, the predominant ethnic group in the highlands of Indonesian Papua.

Nestled at an altitude of nearly 2,000 meters, the Baliem Valley lies deep within the mountain range that forms the backbone of New Guinea.

First unveiled to the world in the late 1930s by an American expedition, this remote valley has long been home to the Dani and Wali warriors, who engaged in fierce battles until just a few decades ago.
