  • The morning is devoted to a pleasant 3-hour walk around Sidemen, through highland plantations and rice fields. During this walk, you will pass by a number of hamlets where you can meet the local population, and cross an old suspension bridge. The vegetation is luxuriant and the landscape very exotic. You then visit the temple of Besakih. Situated on the misty slopes of Mount Agung at an altitude of 1,000 metres, it is the island's most important temple, comprising a religious complex of 22 separate temples spread over seven terraces. With its 11-storey "meru" roofs, almost constant religious ceremonies and "sea and mountains" viewpoint, this temple is surely one of the most spiritual.
