What religion is practiced in Ecuador?
Ecuador is a deeply religious country — around 95% of the population is Catholic, a legacy of Spanish colonization.
However, many Ecuadorians still honor pre-Columbian spiritual traditions, including animism and the veneration of volcanoes, the sun, the moon, the creator Viracocha, and Pachamama, the goddess of the earth.
