The Cinque Terre National Park, in Liguria, is full of charming little villages and medieval sanctuaries connected by ancient country paths overlooking the Mediterranean coast. A paradise for nature lovers and heritage enthusiasts, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where the scents and colours of endemic vegetation and the blue of the sea enchant and invite reverie, and which this itinerary proposes to explore over a week of hiking.
From village to village, you will discover the famous Monterosso, Vernazzo, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore, clinging to the cliffs like balconies above the sea. The paths wind between cultivated terraces, olive trees and sloping vineyards, offering magnificent views of the Mediterranean at every turn. Beyond the landscapes, this hike allows you to discover a region where inhabitants have shaped the mountains for centuries to grow vines and preserve an exceptional environment.

Welcome to Liguria!
You arrive at Levanto by your own means and settle comfortably into your hotel. The end of the day is free, allowing you to discover this charming village at your own pace. Levanto is full of treasures to explore: a magnificent 13th-century church, a historic castle, lush hills and picturesque beaches. Together, these elements form an enchanting picture, inviting relaxation and wonder.
Punta Mesco Cape
Levanto → Monterosso
After breakfast, you will set off towards Punta Mesco cape on an old mule track that winds through the pine forest and offers spectacular sea views. Your destination will be the village of Monterosso, in the Cinque Terre park, where you will admire the very beautiful historic center.

Monterosso → Levanto
From Monterosso, you will return to Levanto by train
(5 minutes journey - ticket to buy at the station).
The Abbey of San Fruttuoso and Portofino
Levanto → Camogli
This morning you will take the train to Camogli, which under the influence of the nearby city of Genoa has developed an old and long maritime tradition still very visible today. Train tickets are not included.
You will walk today through oak forests, olive terraces and flower-filled fields towards the Abbey of San Fruttuoso, accessible only on foot or by sea, in its small idyllic bay, and until the charming village of Portofino.

From Portofino
From Portofino, you will continue your journey by ferry to Santa Margherita. Ferry tickets are not included.
To Levanto
A half-hour train journey will conclude your day's adventures and bring you back to Levanto. Train tickets are not included.
On the way to Manarola
Levanto → Vernazza
This morning, you will leave Levanto for good and be transferred by car to Vernazza. This small typical Ligurian coastal village exudes irresistible charm. You will take great pleasure in discovering its picturesque streets, its colorful houses and its superb sea views. Every corner of the street will offer you a new perspective on this jewel of the Ligurian coast, making your visit unforgettable.
Our hike today takes us from Vernazzo to the small seaside town of Manarola, via the villages of Corniglia, perched on a hilltop and offering breathtaking panoramas, and Volastra. We cross forests and olive groves and follow a very picturesque paved path.

Vernazza → Manarola
You will settle into your hotel in Manarola for the remainder of your stay. You will find your luggage there, brought by car during the day. Take this moment to relax and soak in the peaceful atmosphere of this charming coastal village.
From Riomaggiore to Portovenere
From Manarola
A very short train journey will take you to the starting point of your walk: Riomaggiore, where you will quickly admire the narrow streets. Take time to soak in the unique atmosphere of this village before beginning your hike.

To Portovenere
You will then continue your exploration of the Ligurian coast, heading southeast, until you reach Portovenere. Along the way, amidst rosemary, myrtle and strawberry trees, you will pass by the Madonna di Montenero sanctuary and the mountain village of Campiglia. Portovenere, at the tip of the peninsula and facing the small island of the regional natural park of the same name, is a particularly picturesque fishing village. You will be charmed by its colourful houses, its narrow streets and its breathtaking views of the sea.
Portovenere → Manarola
To conclude this magnificent day beautifully and enjoy views of the coast, you will return to Manarola by boat. This crossing will offer you a unique perspective on the Ligurian coast, with its steep cliffs and charming colorful villages. A perfect moment of relaxation to end your day of exploration.
At the Top of Mount Capri
Manarola → Manarola
Your last hike will be an ascent to the summit of Mont Capri. Reaching an altitude of 785 meters, a few remains of menhirs will still be visible on its slopes. You will then descend to Groppo, where your efforts will be rewarded with a visit to a wine cellar followed by a tasting. Fortunately, only a short rapid descent will still separate you from Manarola!

After your breakfast, you will be transferred by private car to La Spezia train station.

The information below concerns travelers who are nationals of the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, and Canada traveling to Italy for a tourist stay. As entry rules may change, we recommend verifying the information with the official authorities before your departure.
Passport and ID card
Italy is a member of the European Union and part of the Schengen area. Nationals of the EEA can enter Italy with a valid passport or national ID card. The document must be in good condition (no damaged, torn, or altered pages).
Swiss nationals, although not EU members, benefit from bilateral agreements allowing them to enter Italy with a valid ID card or passport.
Canadian nationals must hold a valid passport for the entire duration of their stay. It is recommended that it remain valid for at least three months after the scheduled departure date from the Schengen area.
Tourist stay without visa
Nationals of the EEA and Switzerland benefit from freedom of movement within the European area and are not subject to any duration restrictions for their tourist stays in Italy.
Canadian nationals benefit from visa exemption for tourist stays in the Schengen area. This exemption allows a maximum stay of 90 days within any 180-day period, across all Schengen countries combined. Beyond this duration, a long-stay visa is required.
ETIAS travel authorization
As of the entry into force of the European system, Canadian nationals will be required to obtain an ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) authorization before any travel to the Schengen area, of which Italy is part.
This electronic authorization, distinct from a visa, must be requested online before departure. It will be linked to the traveler's passport and is generally valid for several years. We recommend verifying the status of this system with the official authorities before your departure.
Travel with children
Minors must hold their own valid travel document (passport or, for EEA nationals, national ID card).
In some countries, when a minor travels without one of their parents, an exit authorization from the territory may be required according to the regulations of the country of residence.
Other nationalities
Entry conditions may vary depending on nationality. Travelers concerned should inquire with the embassy or consulate of Italy in their country of residence.
