Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1
D1

Day 1

At 9am, meet at the location specified a few weeks in advance to join the group and get to know Captain Mika. Then head to the forest of Brocéliande. Once there, launch an orienteering race : the objective is to locate the bivouac site where we will spend the weekend. This is a great opportunity to practice using compass and map in a safe and collaborative setting.

The afternoon is filled with survival/bushcraft workshops : safety rules reminders, knife handling, carving a wooden spoon from a branch and practicing various fire-lighting techniques (bow drill friction, flint, firesteel, etc.) and building shelters with different tarp setup techniques. Time is dedicated to knots to consolidate the useful basics for the field.

The day ends with a night outing in the moonlight to discover the forest inhabitants.

The meal can be enhanced, depending on the season, with chestnuts, porcini mushrooms or nettle chapatis, all foraged in the forest of course!

Activity: 5 km walk

Day 2

Day 2

Opening briefing to set the framework and guide everyone through the day.

Time for survival workshops: learning water filtration, first aid gestures in natural and isolated settings, then introduction to wild edible plant foraging. Everything takes place in small groups, with attentive supervision and a respectful approach to the terrain.

In the afternoon, focus on the backpack: how to organize it, adjust loads and choose hiking gear, with simple tips to put into practice. We will also discuss safety rules and processes to adopt in nature in order to adopt the right approach in degraded situations (hike that goes wrong, waiting for rescue, unexpected night in the mountains, etc.). A reactivation of the gestures seen the day before to leave feeling confident. A document with the concepts covered during the stay will be sent by email to participants.

We then leave with an orientation walk through the forest to return to the starting point. This is an opportunity to apply what was learned during the workshops, compass and map in hand, working together as a group.

End of day and return to the parking lot at 4pm.

Activity: 3 km of hiking
