Everest Base Camp Classic

The day starts early, with a short but spectacular flight to Lukla, the starting point of our trek. You observe the Langtang mountain ranges to Jugal Himal, passing by Rolwaling, Gaurisankar and Menlumtse, before your first glimpse of the Everest: the panorama is breathtaking.

You begin your trek at the gateway to Khumbu at the entrance of the village of Lukla. Throughout the day, many stops are planned to meet the locals, take photos and of course enjoy the landscape and the view of the multiple snow-capped peaks, culminating at 6,000 m. You pass near the enormous Thado Kosi mani (prayer) stone, then go around the numerous chortens and prayer wheels of Sano.

You have a free afternoon. Those who wish can climb up to a small Gompa, overlooking the village.

You gather for an aperitif by the fireside and dinner in the evening.

After breakfast, you walk to the village of Monjo. From there, you descend a few stone steps, cross a suspension bridge and, after a short climb, reach Jorshale - the entrance to Sagamartha National Park. You can observe the 3D map and check out the information panels, while the guides take care of the trekking permits.
Continuing along the river, you traverse a wooded area, then a rocky one. You cross several suspension bridges, before climbing towards Top Danda, where you will see Everest for the first time. Then the climb becomes gradually steeper until Namche(capital of Sherpa country).

Day 2 in Namche

The beginning of the day is dedicated to a short walk, in order to acclimatize well to the altitude. Afternoon free to enjoy the shops and cafés of Namche. While strolling around, your guide will take you to wonderful panoramas and you will be able to admire the "rock-stars" of the Himalayan world. Feast your eyes: overlooking the deep valleys, Lhotse, Nuptse,Everest, Ama Dablam offer themselves to your gaze.

Finally, if you feel fit enough, we can continue towards the charming villages of Khumjungand Kundewhere a medical clinic and a school were able to be opened thanks to the Sir Edmund Hilary Foundation.

After a distinctly steeper section, you arrive at the village of Mong. The view of Thamserku to the southeast is splendid. You begin a fairly steep descent to reach and cross the Dudh Kosi Nadi river on a metal footbridge at 3680m altitude. It is through a regular climb that you reach the village of Phortse at 3800m altitude.
Phortse is a magnificently situated village on a plateau entirely cultivated, where each plot of land is surrounded by dry stone walls.

Slow and steady climb in the Khumbu valley up to Pangboche. You enter the heart of upper Khumbu. The path climbs steadily. To perfect your acclimatization, it is better to progress slowly.

Lunch at Pangboche.

Gradual ascent with a few short steep sections. Spectacular views of Kangtenga, Thamserku and Ama Dablam the "white lady", "Mother of the Sherpas". Arrival at the hamlet of Dingboche (4400m).

A high altitude meadow rises gently sloping to the Thukla ridge, at the foot of Lobuche Peak. A final steep climb leads you to Lobuche. Before you, Nuptse, Pumori, Langtren display their gleaming peaks.

From Gorakshep, a trail follows the crest of the Khumbu Glacier moraine over a long distance before descending onto the glacier itself to the base camp. Along the way, facing the Nuptse wall and just above the Khumbu Glacier, a monument has been erected in memory of mountaineers and Sherpas who died on Everest. At the base camp itself, there is a view of the Khumbu Icefall but not of the Everest summit. Return to Gorakshep.

From Lobuche, the trail leads to the Khumbu Glacier moraine which must be climbed by zigzagging. The climb is difficult. The conical summit of Pumori appears in all its splendor to the north. The slope then becomes gentler as the trail opens onto the large flat area of Gorakshep which has a few lodges and camping spots.

The Kalapathar is the highest point of the Everest trek. The ascent is not technical but the last section is difficult due to altitude. The summit offers an exceptional panoramic view of Everest and other high peaks of the Khumbu: Nuptse, Lhotse, Makalu, Ama Dablam, Cholatse… and of the Khumbu glacier. The view of Everest is closer here than from Gokyo Ri.

Return to Gorakshep for lunch. And after lunch, we descend towards Pheriche which takes us less than 5 hours.

Beautiful descent facing Ama Dablam. It descends slightly along a balcony above the turbulent river. Lower down at Syomare, a superb village built on steps. In the upper part of Pangboche, where there is a monastery dating from the 6th century.

After lunch, you start the trek. Today, you descend to a suspension bridge then climb slightly through the forest crossing the villages of Debuche, Tengboche and up toNamche Bazaar.

After breakfast, you head back to Lukla via a small mountain trail. You cross Banker and arrive at Phakding where you have lunch.

Another 3 hours of walking to return to Lukla. You'll finish your trek with a final climb with a positive elevation gain of 200 meters! On the way back, you can stop for a drink, possibly visit Chaurikharka school and Kyongma monastery.

This is then the moment to say goodbye to your trekking team before spending our last night in the mountains.

After breakfast, you take a flight back to Katmandu. A short but spectacular flight with, on a clear day, breathtaking views of the mountains.

Arrival at Katmandu airport and transfer to your hotel where you can rest for a few moments.
