How to use your phone and internet in Guatemala?
In Guatemala (country code +502), you can use your phone by activating the international option on your plan or by purchasing a local SIM card. Most tourist hotels and restaurants offer free Wi-Fi.
Using your French phone
You have two options:
- International option: contact your operator before departure to activate roaming options. Be careful about high rates for calls and data.
- Local SIM card: more economical solution. The main operators are Tigo, Claro and Movistar. You can buy one in shops in city centers or at the airport.
Internet connection
Wi-Fi is available in most tourist accommodations, restaurants and cafés in visited areas. Quality varies depending on the region: excellent in major cities like Guatemala City and Antigua, more limited in remote areas of Petén or the highlands.
