How to get around in Ecuador?
Ecuador offers several transport options: car rentals (with or without driver) for complete freedom, ejecutivo buses between cities with great value, limited panoramic trains, and boats in the Amazon or Galápagos.
By car: the most flexible solution
Ecuadorian roads have been recently renovated and are generally in very good condition. Renting a car with or without a driver allows you to travel with total freedom and access isolated corners of the country.
Caution on mountain roads: landslides and rockfalls are frequent due to rainfall.
Bus: economical for inter-city trips
The bus network works very well and remains affordable. Choose the clase ejecutivo to enjoy reclining seats and air conditioning.
Limitation: buses only serve major cities and do not allow you to venture into remote villages or go trekking.
Other means of transport
Train: underdeveloped network that does not allow you to go everywhere, but offers enjoyable scenic routes.
Boat: essential in the Amazon and Galápagos Islands, adding to the charm of your trip.
