When should I travel to Brazil?
Brazil can be visited year-round thanks to its tropical climate. Winter (May–September) offers mild temperatures around 25°C and less rainfall. Summer allows you to fully enjoy the beaches despite the heat. Avoid the Amazon between December and May (rainy season).
The best periods according to your preferences
The austral winter (May to September) is the ideal period to discover Brazil. Temperatures remain pleasant around 25°C with dry and sunny days. It is the high tourist season, particularly appreciated for visiting Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and coastal regions.
The austral summer (December to March) suits lovers of intense heat and festive atmosphere. It is the period of Rio's Carnival, crowded beaches and temperatures that can exceed 35°C.
Important regional specificities
- Amazon : absolutely avoid December to May, period of daily torrential rainfall
- Pantanal : dry season from May to September optimal for observing wildlife
- Atlantic coast : pleasant all year round, tourist peak in summer
- South of the country : more marked winter, cool temperatures from June to August
Advice from our local agency
For a first trip, choose April-May or September-October: optimal climate, fewer tourists and more advantageous rates than in high season.
