What are the endemic animals of Brazil?
Brazil is home to many iconic animals: the hyacinth macaw (Ara hyacinthina), jaguar, capybara (world's largest rodent), maned wolf, manatee, pink river dolphins, opossum, and a multitude of colorful tropical birds.
The great emblematic mammals
- Jaguar: the largest feline in South America, mainly in the Amazon and Pantanal.
- Capybara: the world's largest rodent (up to 70 kg), semi-aquatic.
- Maned wolf: canine with long legs, typical of the Cerrado.

Unique aquatic fauna
The pink Amazon river dolphins (boto) are endemic to the Amazon basin. The opossum completes this exceptional biodiversity with more than 50 species recorded.
