Departure for Mendoza
In Mendoza, vineyards are part of the landscape. At the foot of the Andes mountain range, high-altitude vineyards benefit from waters from the snows of the peaks. It is here that Malbec finds one of its preferred territories.
The region can also be discovered through everything that surrounds wine: wineries with contemporary architecture, gastronomic restaurants, spas set in the middle of vineyards and horseback rides facing Aconcagua.
On the wine route, estates and vintages tell the story of local expertise, while oenological experiences allow you to go further in your discovery. Another facet of Argentina emerges here, between Andean traditions, wine culture and art of living.
Free days in Mendoza
For three days, you have the keys to discover Mendoza just as you wish. Behind the wheel of your rental vehicle, take your time on roads lined with vineyards, between high-altitude valleys and the landscapes of the Andes Cordillera.
As you please, push open the doors of the famous wine estates, taste the great Mendoza Malbecs and enjoy the mountain panoramas that accompany you all the way to the mythical landscapes of Aconcagua.

Altitude gain towards Salta
You leave the landscapes of Mendoza and the Andes Cordillera behind as you fly to Salta, in northwestern Argentina. Upon arrival, you enter a new setting made up of colorful mountains, wild valleys and colonial villages where Andean traditions are still alive.
You are now in the heart of Northwestern Argentina, a land of colors, cultures and wide open spaces, with an authentic and warm atmosphere.
Free day in Salta
Today, take time to discover Salta as you wish. Stroll through the streets of the historic center, observe the beautiful colonial mansions and, depending on your preferences, visit the cathedral and San Francisco convent. You can also choose to settle on a café terrace and simply enjoy the warm atmosphere of the city.
A day of complete freedom to soak up the Salta atmosphere, with no other program than the one you have chosen.
Quebrada de Humahuaca
For two days, take the wheel of your rental vehicle and travel at your own pace on the roads of Northwest Argentina. From Salta, you cross wild valleys, multicolored mountains and Andean villages, with landscapes that change throughout your journey.
You pass through San Salvador de Jujuy and Purmamarca, then continue towards Tilcara and the Quebrada de Humahuaca. A region where Andean traditions and pre-Columbian culture are still very much present.
Take advantage of this freedom to take your time, stop in villages, meet the locals and appreciate the landscapes. Two days to discover a colorful, vibrant and authentic Argentina, at your own pace.
In the heart of multicolored mountains
The road to Salta still has some beautiful changes of scenery in store for you. As you gain altitude through the mountains, you reach the Salinas Grandes, a vast expanse of salt whose whiteness contrasts with the Andean peaks.
After this final stage in an almost unreal landscape, the road gradually descends towards greener valleys. You finally return to Salta, which marks the end of this beautiful loop travelled in complete freedom.
On the way to Molinos
You leave Salta and head south, with the Calchaquí Valleys in your sights. The road crosses the Cuesta del Obispo, then reaches the high-altitude valleys and the Parque Nacional Los Cardones before arriving at Cachi, nestled between mountains and giant cacti.
You then resume your journey towards Molinos, a small colonial village with preserved charm, where time seems to have stood still. Along the way, you will find mineral landscapes, villages and Andean traditions. A more discreet and intimate face of northwestern Argentina is revealed.
A stage to travel at a leisurely pace in your vehicle, enjoying the wild and colorful landscapes that border the roads of the Calchaquí Valleys.
On the way to Cafayate
Leaving Molinos and Cachi, you set your course towards Cafayate. The road crosses the Calchaquí Valleys, with their rock formations, colorful canyons and panoramas that accompany the journey to this city surrounded by vineyards.
In Cafayate, wine is part of the landscape. The city lies in the heart of the Wine Route of Northwestern Argentina, known for its altitude wines and its Torrontés. Take advantage of this stop to visit a few wineries, taste local wines and discover a terroir shaped by the sun, the mountains and traditions.
A final stage to complete this loop while enjoying grandiose landscapes, authentic villages and wine pleasures.
Return to Salta
It is time to leave the high-altitude vineyards of Cafayate and the landscapes of the Vallées Calchaquíes to head back towards Salta. Northwestern Argentina continues to accompany you a little longer, with its mountains, valleys and rock formations with changing colors.
Then, as the kilometers pass, the reliefs gradually give way to the lush valleys that surround the capital of Salta. You thus find yourself back in Salta and finish your South Loop, after several stages between nature, culture and discovery of Argentina's great wine regions.
Return to Buenos Aires
Your getaway in the northwestern Argentina is coming to an end. You take the plane to Buenos Aires and leave behind the landscapes of the north. During the flight, you cross the vastness of Argentina one last time before returning to the energy of the capital and its Porteño elegance for the rest of your journey.
Return home
The roads traveled fade away, just as the peaks, plains and landscapes that accompanied your journey. But Argentina does not disappear. It leaves behind images, emotions and memories that you take with you.

Passport
To enter Argentina, your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your planned stay and contain at least one blank page for immigration stamps.
The document must be in good condition (no damaged, torn, or altered pages).
Tourist stay without a visa
Nationals of the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and Canada benefit from visa exemption for tourist stays in Argentina.
This exemption allows for a stay of up to 90 days from the date of entry into the country. An extension of an additional 90 days can generally be requested on site at the Argentine National Immigration Authority.
Authorities may also request:
an exit ticket from the country (return flight or onward travel),
proof of sufficient financial resources for the duration of your stay,
an accommodation address in Argentine territory.
Health and vaccinations
No vaccination is mandatory to enter Argentina from Europe or Canada. However, certain vaccinations are recommended depending on the regions you visit:
the yellow fever vaccine is recommended for travelers heading to the tropical zones in the north of the country (Misiones, Formosa, Chaco, and Jujuy provinces);
updating routine vaccinations (diphtheria, tetanus, poliomyelitis, measles) is advised.
It is recommended to consult a doctor or an international vaccination center before departure.
Traveling with children
Minors must hold their own valid passport covering the duration of the stay.
When a minor travels without one or both parents, a notarized parental authorization may be required by Argentine authorities at entry or exit. It is strongly advised to check beforehand with the competent Argentine consulate.
