The Road of Famine

Transfer to the tip of KILLARY FJORD (KILLARY HARBOUR), Ireland's only fjord and starting point of your hike, offering magnificent scenery.

Your day's walk is a journey through History, along the Famine track. In the mid-19th century, inhabitants from the south coast of the fjord, devastated by famine, built this road in exchange for meagre wages and some food.

A few ruined villages bear witness today to this painful period.
