The spirit of travel
The Tadrart is a region that reveals remarkable landscapes to travelers. This sandstone massif extends over 150 km from north to south and 30 km from east to west, in the southern extension of the Libyan Tadrart Akakus. Its name means "little red mountain," in reference to the red color of its rocks and sand.
The Tadrart combines nature and history. It houses precious cultural heritage, with thousands of rock paintings dating from the Neolithic period, testimony to the life of ancient Saharan inhabitants at a time when the climate was more humid and greener. You discover the Tadrart on foot, with the assistance of 4x4 vehicles, accompanied by Tuareg guides who know the region and its secrets perfectly. You journey through canyons, plateaus, dunes and natural arches, along endless horizons, changing light at the end of the day and starry nights.

Day-by-day itinerary

Direct flight to Djanet, the jewel of the Ajjer
You leave Paris to reach Algiers, first step of your trip to Algérie. Upon arrival, you discover the charm of the Algerian capital.
After completing the visa formalities at Algiers airport, you take a flight to Djanet. Your arrival is scheduled for around 1:30 a.m., during the night of Day 1 to Day 2. You are then transferred to your hotel for a night of rest before beginning your Saharan adventure.
Enjoy the comfort of your accommodation and the local hospitality to rest before setting out to discover the Sahara.
By default, we offer trips departing from Paris. However, you can take advantage of flights to Algiers departing from many European cities. International and domestic flights are not included in our package, but we can help you organize them upon request.

By off-road vehicle, heading to Tadrart
After a invigorating breakfast, you head to the office of the Tassili n'Ajjer National Park in Algérie to complete the formalities. You then head south, between the imposing cliffs of the Ajjer to the east and the dunes of the Admer erg to the west. In your sights, the peak of Tiska stands like a beacon across the vast expanses of the Tafassasset.
Gradually, the Ajjer cliff sinks into the sands and you enter a spectacular gorge, marking the entrance to the Tadrart, "the little mountain". As you progress, the first rock art sites appear, bearing witness to the rich history of this region. You take advantage of this first discovery to enjoy a walk of approximately one hour, which takes you to the bivouac of the oued In Djaren. A first immersion in the wild beauty of the desert.
Discovery or hiking?
This journey is supported by vehicles, which allows you to adjust your movements according to your wishes. Do you want to walk? You can move at your own pace with your guide and meet up with the vehicles at designated locations. Do you prefer to travel by car and take a few walks of 2 to 3 hours maximum on the sites? The journey adapts to your wishes as well. This flexible formula thus allows a first approach to the desert with children, adapting the pace and movements to everyone's preferences.
The objective is to offer you a tailor-made experience, designed according to your expectations. Whether you are an experienced hiker or discovering this environment for the first time, the team will accompany and advise you throughout your journey.

In the canyons of In Djeran to the arch of Tamesguida
You wander through the main canyon of In Djaren, where the wealth and diversity of rock art sites reveal themselves along the way. Mainly consisting of engravings, they also feature some rock paintings, witnesses to the ancient history of this region. As you walk, the landscape transforms and you now advance through a maze of rocks and sand. At each turn new geological formations appear, until the Tamesguida arch rises before you, imposing and mysterious at the heart of this desert landscape.

Rock art, canyons and dunes
You progress towards the south until you reach the great dunes of Moul N'Aga, which block the horizon like an immense wall of sand. These imposing dunes offer a striking natural spectacle in the heart of the desert. You now advance between dunes and cliffs. From the high points, the panorama opens onto the Tadrart ruiniform, where jagged rocks, steep peaks and canyons intertwine, all anchored in red sands.
As you progress, new geological formations sculpted by time and the elements are revealed. The red hues of the sand contrast with the azure sky, composing a mineral landscape with striking colors.

From wild wadis to the dunes of Tin Merzouga
Moul N'Aga → Tin Merzouga dunes
You progress toward Tin Merzouga by going up the Ouan Zaouaten and Bouhedien wadis, which run alongside magnificent sand dune ridges. Shaped by the wind, these expanses of sand accompany your advance through the desert.
Your journey then leads you to the foot of vertiginous needles and monumental arches rising in the middle of valleys, then through canyons with surprising walls, carved into ochre rock and bordered by sand. Along the way, geological formations sculpted by time and the elements succeed one another. The day ends with a ride through the dune cirque of Tin Merzouga. From wadis to dune ridges, from arches to canyons, the landscapes have succeeded one another throughout the day like a kaleidoscope of images in the heart of wild nature.

The beautiful dune of Tin Merzouga, distant horizons
Tin Merzouga dunes → Tin Merzouga Cirque
You wander through settings surrounded by imposing sandstone towers, geological formations that dominate the surrounding landscape. Your path leads you to the surprising site of Imesnegha, where erosion has sculpted fascinating caves in the rock.
After exploring these caves, shaped and polished by time and the elements, you return to the red dunes to savor the end of the day. At sunset, the sands gradually take on warm hues, offering one final natural spectacle to close this day in the heart of the desert.

Tassili then return to Djanet by car
By track, you leave the Tadrart heading towards Djanet, for a crossing of approximately five hours through desert landscapes. This journey offers you one last opportunity to soak in the beauty and serenity of the desert before returning to the city. Upon your arrival in Djanet, a shower allows you to refresh yourself after this long drive. You then set off to discover the capital of the Ajjer, wandering through its streets and immersing yourself in the lively atmosphere of its emblematic market. Tuareg culture reveals itself through colors, fabrics and local craftsmanship.
After a final dinner around local flavors, you head to the airport around 10:30 p.m. You leave Djanet with the memories of your Saharan adventure and the landscapes you traveled through during your journey.

Flight to Algiers, then France
In the heart of the Saharan night, you are accompanied to complete check-in formalities at the airport. Under the starry sky, you enjoy these final moments in the Sahara before your departure. After check-in, you board your flight to Algiers, where you arrive in the early morning.
Upon your arrival in Alger, you can continue your journey to Paris or to other destinations.
