Historic wooden stilt house renovated by a Thai couple, nestled within a temple compound on the Chao Phraya riverbanks, 10 minutes from Chinatown.

Since 2011, a young Thai couple has left their careers in advertising to restore a historic wooden house built on stilts. Situated within the grounds of a grand temple, directly on the banks of the Chao Phraya river that flows through Bangkok, the house comprises 4 beautiful rooms with direct river access and an additional room set back from the water (dormitory-style accommodation for larger families). Just a 10-minute walk from the Chinese quarter, this is a magical place to discover both the historic Sino-Portuguese neighborhoods of Bangkok's east bank and, more importantly, the waterborne Bangkok—with its constant parade of long-tail taxi boats, water buses and public ferries, tugboats and barges laden to the waterline.
