Nestled in the Miraflores neighborhood, near the beach that borders the Peruvian capital, Costanera 700 is one of the most famous restaurants in Lima. Founded by the son of a Japanese immigrant, Costanera 700 owes its fame to its cuisine that fuses Japanese and Peruvian culinary techniques. He creates unique dishes that his customers highly appreciate. Fish and seafood are in the spotlight in the preparations.

History

Costanera 700 was founded by Humberto Sato over 40 years ago. It was initially established in La Parada but later moved to the Miraflores neighborhood. The restaurant bears the name of its former street.

Passionate about cooking, its founder started cooking with his mother at 7. Although he trained as a mechanic, Sato decided to make cooking his profession. His curiosity led him to learn culinary secrets. As a result, his restaurant became known for its exquisite ceviches, which perfectly combine Japanese and Peruvian cuisine.

Costanera 700 was the restaurant of choice for former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori. The talks concerning the border conflict between Ecuador and Peru were held there in the 1990s. The confrontations between the two countries also ended there. The restaurant is counted among the best in Lima. In 2019, it reached 4th place in the Summum Prize, the largest Peruvian gastronomic competition.

A few words from the current chef of the restaurant

Today, Yaquir Sato is at the helm of the family business, assisted by his three brothers. He is also the restaurant's head chef and has been in this role long before his father passed away in 2018 at the age of 78. Yaquir has brought his personal touch to the restaurant's dishes and decor while respecting the culinary legacy of his progenitor.

A charming setting
Costanera 700 is located in an upscale neighborhood and enjoys a discreet location. The restaurant occupies a building flanked by two buildings. After crossing its garden and passing through its large wooden door, you will discover a charming interior with a Japanese influence. The setting is spacious and perfect for lunch or dinner. The restaurant has several rooms and a terrace. Guests can reserve a private room for a business meeting or a romantic dinner.

A la carte

Costanera's menu is very extensive. It offers 70 different dishes. Fish, crustacean, and shellfish dishes are highlighted. The most ordered is the chita al sal, a fish cooked in salt and served at the table in flames. Classic dishes, including the one that made the restaurant's reputation (ceviche), are always on the menu. Recipes with duck, goat, or beef are also to be noticed, as they are an absolute pleasure for the taste buds. To accompany the menu, visitors can choose from over a hundred references of local and international wines, other alcoholic beverages, mineral water, etc.

Several bus lines have stops near Costanera 700: 1705, 4911, 7501, 8306, CR71, IO03, and IO89. However, it is recommended that you take a cab to reach it more easily.

The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday from 12:30 to 21:00 and from 12:30 to 17:00 on Sundays and holidays.
