This gigantic statue culminates at a height of 40 meters and turns out to be the largest equestrian statue in the world! The complex is located in Tsonjin Boldog, in Töv aimag, 60 km from the capital Ulan Bator.

It was officially opened in September 2008, and many projects are still under construction: 200 yurts camps as accommodation, golf course, open-air stage, pond, sports field and the planting of more than 10,000 trees. Although the complex is not yet fully completed, there are already plenty of activities to do in the area so you can kill two birds with one stone if you feel like it.

First of all, of course, it is the statue itself that we recommend you visit. The ticket for an adult is 30,000 Tugrik (about 10 €). Inside the statue, you can visit a museum with relics from the Bronze Age and the Xionglu Empire, as well as a museum of the Xionglu Empire, a jumble of souvenir shops, cafes, a restaurant, and a post office! In addition, visitors have the opportunity to get into the horse's head from where they can enjoy a panoramic view of Tsonjin Boldog. What a symbol!

Wear traditional Mongolian costumes

For a total immersion in the Mongolian culture and unforgettable souvenir photos, you also have the opportunity to wear typical Mongolian costumes for the modest sum of 10,000 Tugrik (€ 3.5). You will find happiness in the range of options they offer!

Animal lovers will also be happy because you can put on a glove and have your picture taken with a beautiful eagle on your arm. Be careful, they are heavy!

Where to stay around the Genghis Khan equestrian statue?

In addition, the yurt camp of the complex received its first visitors this year and offers hot water showers and toilets in the accommodations. The prices for a night vary between 135,000 and 165,000 Tugriks (60 to 75 €).

Secondly, we can only advise you to make a detour to the monument dedicated to Hoelun, who was none other than Genghis Khan's mother. As the wife of Genghis Khan Borte, Hoelun was considered one of the most influential figures in the life of the famous Mongolian warrior and one of his most reliable advisors. She also cared for orphans of war during her son's conquests, adopted her, and integrated her into the family, a policy aimed at winning the loyalty of the conquered tribes.

Fly around the area!

For those who like a little more excitement, a short gyroplane trip can be worth the detour. You only have to walk about 3 kilometers from the statue complex, and then you can fly over Tsonjin Boldog and the Tuul River to get a real feast for the eyes! The prices vary depending on the duration of the flight but remain between 80,000 and 300,000 Tugrik (25 € and 120 €).

Go Karts!

You are full for the day, you decide to return to Ulaanbaatar ... But on the way back you learn about the existence of a go-kart track. A little stop is necessary! There are up to 10 kart races, so it is possible to drive with a maximum of 10 people on the 365-meter long track, ideal if you are traveling with your family or a small group. A race will cost you a modest sum of 20,000 tugriks (around € 7). So much for the most important tourist attractions around the huge equestrian statue of Genghis Khan.
