Javanese spirituality

An alternative to the 'Crafts' day is to immerse yourself in Javanese spirituality and visit a workshop that makes kris, the famous wavy-bladed dagger that is said to have acquired so much power over the centuries that it can represent a man at his wedding! There's also a visit to a village where pencak silat is practised, an Indonesian martial art with a ritual and religious dimension.
