Sisowath Quay is a long pedestrian promenade along the Tonlé Sap River. A must-visit spot in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, the quay is a popular gathering place for locals who come to jog or simply meet friends. Visiting Sisowath Quay

The quay runs along the Tonlé Sap River until it meets the Mekong. It stretches 3 km from Street 104 to Street 178, parallel to Sisowath Boulevard, in the Chamkarmon district. This long pedestrian boulevard is perhaps one of the liveliest places in the Cambodian capital. Lined with many restaurants, hotels, bars, cafes, and all kinds of shops, the quay attracts numerous local and foreign visitors every day who come to relax or stroll along the water. Early in the morning, the quay is popular with athletes who take advantage of the cool morning air for jogging or walking. In the afternoon, the hustle and bustle of the morning gives way to calm. Although the quay is adorned with beautiful palm trees and shrubs, it lacks much shade, and the heat can sometimes be difficult to bear. In the evening, at sunset, a completely different ambiance takes over the area. People gather here to take walks, hang out, or snack in a very family-friendly atmosphere.

What to do and see at Sisowath Quay?

Sisowath Quay is a major landmark and a great place to start exploring Phnom Penh's important historical sites. Indeed, you can easily reach the Royal Palace or the National Museum, both located nearby.

For food lovers, the quay is lined with many restaurants and also hosts several street vendors offering snacks, giving you the chance to sample Khmer cuisine. You will also find options for Mexican, Indian, or Italian specialties, your choice. Enjoy a relaxing break while sipping a coffee and eating a baguette by the quay. Afterward, you can take a short walk to the famous Wat Ounalom, a nearby Buddhist temple.

A little further on, painters and other artists take advantage of the scenery to create beautiful, colorful paintings. Along Street 178, some art galleries exhibit paintings reflecting scenes of daily life. Small vendors selling art objects here and there may persuade you to take home a few souvenirs.

How to get there?

Sisowath Quay is about 10 kilometers from Phnom Penh International Airport. Therefore, you can easily reach the quay by taxi or tuk-tuk. Additionally, bus companies like Mekong Express also serve the entire city and pass through Sisowath Quay.
