In the morning, your adventure begins with the ascent of Mont Qixing, the highest point of the Yangmingshan National Park and the highest peak in the Taipei region.
As you climb its trails lined with sulfurous fumaroles, evidence of the island's geothermal activity, you reach a magnificent 360-degree panorama embracing the entire Taipei valley, the meanders of the Tamsui River and the blue waves of the northern coast.
The morning continues toward the gentle green plains of Qingtiangang.
This basaltic plateau, shaped by ancient lava flows, harbors a unique pastoral history: under Japanese rule, these pastures served as ranches for water buffalo breeding. Today free-roaming, these majestic animals graze peacefully amid the mist and hills, offering a bucolic and timeless tableau.
In the afternoon, after descending the north slope of the massif, a stopover at Jinshan is a must for a well-deserved relaxation break.
You will immerse yourself during a beneficial bath in its natural hot water springs, fed by the earth's fire, perfect for soothing muscles after the exertion of hiking.
At the end of the day, to conclude this odyssey, you will reach the Yehliu peninsula.
Explore the spectacular geological park of Yehliu. Jutting into the sea like a narrow peninsula, this site reveals an almost otherworldly landscape, shaped over millennia by the erosion of wind and waves.
