Immersion in Tadrart Rouge

Departure from Paris to Algiers, where you will be welcomed by the charm of Algeria's capital.

After completing visa formalities at Algiers airport, we will take a flight to Djanet. Upon arrival in Djanet around 1:30 AM on the night of Day 1 to Day 2, you will be transferred to your hotel for a well-deserved night's rest. Take advantage of the comfort and local hospitality to rest before the start of your Saharan adventure.

By default, we offer trips departing from Paris. However, you can take advantage of all flights to Algiers departing from a large number of European cities. International and domestic flights are not included in our offer, but we can help you organize them upon request.

After a revitalizing breakfast, we head to the office of the Tassili n'Ajjer National Park to complete formalities. Then we head South, nestled between the imposing cliffs of Ajjer to the East and the majestic dunes of the Admer erg to the West. In our sights, the point of Tiska stands, like a beacon, in the vast expanses of the Tafassasset.

Gradually, the Ajjer cliff sinks into the sands, and we enter a spectacular gorge, marking the entrance to the Tadrart, the little mountain. As we advance, the first rock art sites appear, bearing witness to the rich history of this region. We take this opportunity to take a walk of approximately one hour, leading us to the bivouac of the oued In Djaren. This magical place offers us a first immersion in the wild beauty of the desert.

Discovery or hiking?

This journey is supported by vehicles, which allows you to adjust your movements according to your wishes. Do you want to walk? You can walk at your leisure with our guide and meet up with the vehicles at well-defined locations. Would you prefer to travel by car and take a few outings of 2 or 3 hours maximum at the sites? We adapt the journey according to your wishes. This journey is very flexible depending on your preferences and is perfectly suited for a first introduction to the desert for children.

Our objective is to offer you a tailor-made experience, where every detail is thought out to meet your expectations. Whether you are a seasoned ranger or a novice seeking discovery, our team will know how to guide and advise you so that every moment is memorable.

We wander through the major canyon of In Djaren, where the richness of rock art sites surprises us with its diversity. Mainly consisting of engravings, a few rock paintings are added to it, offering a fascinating glimpse into the ancient history of this region.

As we walk along, the landscape transforms before our eyes, and we now advance through a maze of rocks and sand. Each turn reveals new geological formations, creating a captivating natural spectacle. Suddenly, the majestic arch of Tamesguida stands before us, imposing and mysterious, testifying to the grandeur and wild beauty of this desert landscape.

We are heading south towards the great dunes of Moul N'Aga, which block the horizon like an immense wall of sand. These imposing dunes offer us a breathtaking natural spectacle.

We are now navigating between dunes and cliffs. From the high points, the panorama is simply incredible: the Tadrart with its ruined rock formations stretches before us, a landscape where jagged rocks, steep peaks and canyons intertwine, all with their feet in the red sands. Each step reveals to us a new spectacle, a new geological wonder sculpted by time and the elements. The red hues of the sands contrast with the azure sky, creating a striking palette of colors that continues to amaze us.

We are making our way towards Tin Merzouga, following the Ouan Zaouaten and Bouhedien wadis, which run along magnificent sand dune ridges. These sandy expanses, shaped by the wind, create a hypnotic natural spectacle.

Our route takes us past vertiginous needles and monumental arches planted in the middle of valleys, as well as canyons with surprising rock faces, carved into ochre rock with sandy foothills. Each geological formation tells us an ancient story, sculpted by time and the elements.

This day ends with a ride through the dune circus of Tin Merzouga. The landscapes have succeeded one another throughout the day like a kaleidoscope of images, offering a feast for the eyes and an unforgettable experience in the heart of wild nature.

We stroll through landscapes surrounded by sandstone towers, these majestic geological formations that dominate the surrounding landscape. Our path leads us to the surprising site of Imesnegha, where erosion has sculpted fascinating caves.

After exploring these caves, polished by time and the elements, we return to the red dunes to savor this end of day. The setting sun tints the sands with warm hues, offering a natural spectacle of enchanting beauty, perfect for closing this day of adventure.

By track, we leave the Tadrart heading towards Djanet, a crossing that will take us approximately five hours through captivating desert landscapes. The journey offers us a last opportunity to immerse ourselves in the beauty and serenity of the desert before our return to civilization.

Upon our arrival in Djanet, a good shower awaits us to refresh ourselves after this long road. Invigorated, we then set off to discover the capital of the Ajjer. We explore its picturesque streets, where every corner reveals a facet of the rich local history, and we immerse ourselves in the lively atmosphere of its emblematic market, where Tuareg culture unfolds in all its splendour through the colors, fabrics and local craftsmanship.

After a final dinner, savoring the local delicacies one last time, we head to the airport around 22:30. It is with our minds filled with unforgettable memories of our Saharan adventure that we leave this land of contrasts and wonders.

We assist you with check-in in the middle of the Saharan night, under a starry sky that adds a magical touch to this stage of your journey. After check-in formalities, you board your flight which will take you to Algiers in the early morning.
