What is the time difference between Vietnam and France?
Vietnam is 6 hours ahead of France in winter and 5 hours ahead in summer. When it is 12 PM in Paris in January, it is 6 PM in Ho Chi Minh City. In July, when it is 12 PM in Paris, it is 5 PM in Vietnam.
Time difference depending on the season
- French winter (October to March) : +6 hours in Vietnam. If it is 12pm in Paris, it is 6pm in Hanoi.
- French summer (April to September) : +5 hours in Vietnam. If it is 12pm in Paris, it is 5pm in Ho Chi Minh City.
Why this difference varies
Vietnam remains on the same time zone year-round (UTC+7), while France switches from standard time (UTC+1) to daylight saving time (UTC+2). This difference explains the variation between 5 and 6 hours.
Practical advice
To avoid confusion when making calls or scheduling appointments, use a world clock application or add Vietnamese time to your phone before departure.
