Do I need a visa to travel to Thailand?
French nationals do not need a visa for a stay of 1 to 30 days in Thailand. Beyond 30 days, a tourist visa is mandatory and must be requested from a Thai embassy or consulate before departure.
Visa exemption for short stays
For stays of 1 to 30 days, no visa is required. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival in Thailand.
Mandatory tourist visa beyond 30 days
For stays longer than 30 days, the tourist visa allows a stay of 60 days and costs €30. Required documents:
- Original passport + photocopy valid for at least 6 months
- 2 recent identity photos
- Return flight ticket (photocopy)
- Completed and signed application form
- Bank statement proving a minimum of €1,000
- Hotel reservation
Extension possible on site
Once in Thailand, you can extend your visa for an additional 30 days at an immigration office for 1,900 baht (approximately €50).
Key points to remember
Submit your visa application well before your departure to the Thai embassy or consulate closest to your home.
