Welcome to Sri Lanka!
Aéroport international de Bandaranaike → Negombo
No sooner have we set foot on the ground than our driver welcomes us warmly at Bandaranaike International Airport. We have truly arrived in Sri Lanka.
Our luggage in the car, he immediately takes us to the first destination of our thrilling journey: Negombo.
We let ourselves be caught up in the relaxed atmosphere of this seaside resort, located just a stone's throw from the airport.
For example, we could relax by strolling through its streets and admiring its magnificent setting. We would pass by its colonial churches and canal. We would also visit its fish market.
We would finish with a boat trip to Muthurajawela Wetlands (optional activity).
Kegalle: the Elephant Haven
This morning, we're heading towards Kegalle through a mountainous area. Along our route, the scenery is simply stunning. The green gold of Sri Lanka captivates us with its beauty: rice paddies, mountains and coconut plantations.
On our journey, we have the option to stop (optional) at the "Millennium Elephant Foundation". It's a care facility for these Asian pachyderms. In addition to observing them, we could get hands-on by giving them their bath or sharing a short ride at their side.
We would also visit the local museum and paper mill (recycling elephant dung).
Then we'll settle into a guesthouse nearby. On site, we have a choice of various relaxing treatments offered by our guesthouse. All in an idyllic setting.
Optional: various types of massages and treatments derived from Ayurvedic practices (treatments not included).
Relaxation in Kandy
After breakfast, we can make the most of our free time with a visit to Kandy, Sri Lanka's last monarchical capital.
We could start by exploring its town center on foot, discovering its famous Tooth Temple. It is a pagoda that is very sacred to Buddhist pilgrims. It is said to house an important relic: the canine tooth of Buddha.
After this cultural excursion, we could enjoy a stroll around Victoria Lake (approximately 4km), before continuing to its vegetable market.
During the afternoon, return to the hotel to benefit from the wellness program that you will have chosen. (optional)
Direction Ella by train
The Sri Lanka peninsula stands out particularly for its generous nature. We can attest to this after visiting the Royal Botanic Garden of Peradeniya.
This charming corner is set within 60 hectares and is bordered by the Mahaweli River. It is pleasant to stroll there for a few hours. A walk among the royal palms, the flower beds, the orchids, and the cannonball trees.
In the afternoon, we catch a train at Peradeniyia station, heading to Nanu Oya. The journey offers us incredible landscapes and reveals all the beauty of nature and the Sri Lankan countryside.
Upon arrival, we continue our journey towards Ella.
If we arrive before sunset, why not climb the "Little Adam's Peak". The view from the top is stunning, especially at twilight.
Go to Lipton's Seat
The tuk-tuk will be our lifesaving morning transport (approximately 4 hours). This small basic vehicle takes us through rice paddies, forests and tea fields.
Along the way, our driver lets us enjoy the landscape with a few stops and walking passages.
He then takes us to the small town of Haputale. This town is nestled in the heart of a magnificent mountain corridor. Things we can do there:
visit "Lipton's Seat", a place where a tea genius used to refresh himself
wander among the tea plantations
understand the tea leaf maturation process, accompanied by an assigned guide
meet the tea pickers
taste a good cup of this famous flavored beverage
Udawalawe National Park
Ella → Udawalawe
Head towards the Udawalawe National Park in the south of the island. The path leading to this protected area is dotted with natural gems.
Along the way, we stop at the majestic Ravana Falls.
In the afternoon, we board a jeep. This marks the beginning of our safari within the park. The latter, created in 1972, is home to an interesting population of elephants and a multitude of bird species.
We can also spot bears, sambars, monitor lizards, crocodiles and leopards.
Yoga & Ayurveda in Talalla
Udawalawe → Talalla
Today, we head to the "Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home". This is a haven of life for young pachyderms. They are pampered there and then released into the wild at a certain stage of their lives. (optional)
We then continue to Talalla. This is one of the most beautiful beaches in this part of the island. We will enjoy a beach stay with various wellness programs offered by our specialized hotel (treatments not included).
Two days to fully enjoy the essence of the wellness programs planned by our hotel. These will include massages, therapies and treatments.
Also, several alternatives will be offered to us to occupy our free time: yoga session, invitation to meditation, surfing lessons, relaxation under the warmth of the tropics, and gastronomic adventure with a delicious fresh fish dish to enjoy on the beach.

Bike ride in the Sri Lankan countryside
One last swim at Talalla, before heading off to discover Galle fort. Drawing its architecture from various colonial styles, the fort built in the 17th century is located in an isolated part of the city.
With the appearance of a small town, it is a place where a calm and peaceful atmosphere prevails. You will walk around its ramparts, its lighthouse, one of its churches and its many souvenir shops.
In the afternoon, it will be on two wheels! Under the guidance of a local guide, we set off on an excursion through the Sinhalese rural landscape. Green rice paddies, vegetable gardens and small villages unfold before us. We cycle for one and a half hours.
And if thirst strikes us in the meantime, why not refresh ourselves with coconut water.
Hello Colombo, goodbye Sri Lanka
Today, we will enjoy our last moments in Sri Lanka by visiting Colombo. This coastal city is full of interesting sites.
Opportunity to take a walk through its popular neighborhoods: Pettah with its mosque and its bazaar, City Hall with its colonial-style buildings. We will cheerfully wander through the streets of this capital until we reach Beira Lake.
There, we will take a walk around it and visit Gangaramaya Temple. We will take the opportunity to do some last-minute shopping, and why not meet our local agent.
We will end our little excursion as well as our adventure on this beautiful Asian island by taking our flight at Colombo International Airport.

Passeport
Pour entrer au Sri Lanka, votre passeport doit être valide au minimum six mois après la date d'entrée dans le pays et comporter au moins deux pages vierges pour les tampons d'immigration.

Visa électronique (ETA)
Les ressortissants de l'Espace économique européen, de la Suisse et du Canada doivent obligatoirement obtenir une autorisation électronique de voyage (ETA – Electronic Travel Authorization) avant leur arrivée au Sri Lanka. Il n'existe pas d'exemption de visa à l'arrivée pour un séjour touristique.
L'ETA s'obtient en ligne via le portail officiel du gouvernement sri-lankais et permet un séjour touristique pouvant aller jusqu'à 30 jours, avec la possibilité de prolonger ce séjour sur place jusqu'à un maximum de 90 jours auprès du Département de l'immigration sri-lankais.
Les autorités peuvent également demander :
un billet de sortie du territoire (vol retour ou continuation),
une preuve de ressources financières suffisantes pour la durée du séjour,
une confirmation de réservation d'hébergement.
Sri Lanka Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)

Santé et vaccinations
Aucun vaccin n'est obligatoire pour entrer au Sri Lanka depuis l'EEE, la Suisse ou le Canada. Cependant, certaines vaccinations sont recommandées par les autorités sanitaires, notamment contre :
l'hépatite A et l'hépatite B,
la typhoïde,
la rage (en cas d'activités à risque ou de séjour prolongé en zone rurale).

Voyage avec des enfants
Les mineurs doivent être titulaires de leur propre passeport valide couvrant la durée du séjour ainsi que de leur propre ETA.
Dans certains pays européens, lorsqu'un mineur voyage sans l'un de ses parents, une autorisation de sortie du territoire peut être exigée selon la réglementation du pays de résidence.
