What is the climate in Myanmar?

Myanmar has a tropical climate with three distinct seasons: the dry season (November-February, 20-30°C), the hot season (March-May, up to 40°C), and the monsoon season (June-October) with heavy rainfall and cyclone risks on the coast.

The three Burmese seasons

  • Dry season (November-February) : pleasant temperatures between 20°C and 30°C, sunny days. Ideal period for traveling to Myanmar.
  • Hot season (March-May) : very high temperatures reaching up to 40°C, dry climate and difficult to bear.
  • Monsoon season (June-October) : abundant and daily rainfall, particularly violent in the north of the country.

Regional specificities

The north of Myanmar experiences particularly intense and sometimes dangerous rainfall during the monsoon. The coastal region presents a cyclone risk during this same period, making certain areas inaccessible.

Best time to travel

The dry season, from November to February, remains the optimal period to discover Burma in comfortable climatic conditions.
