Izamal is a "pueblo mágico" renowned for its Spanish colonial architecture and Mayan remains. Nicknamed the "yellow city" because of the bright color of its buildings, Izamal charms visitors with its beauty and unique atmosphere.

The historic center of the city is dominated by the Convento de San Antonio de Padua, an imposing Franciscan monastery built on the ruins of an ancient Mayan temple. In addition to the monastery, Izamal is home to several other fascinating historical sites, such as the Temple of Kinich Kak Moo, an ancient Mayan temple, as well as the Zamna Square.

Izamal is also renowned for its delicious local cuisine and crafts, offering visitors a true journey into the heart of the region's traditions and culture.

The archaeological site of Uxmal is a must-visit for all those fascinated by Mayan history and culture. Located in the Yucatán Peninsula, in Mexique, this site is renowned for its majestic and well-preserved buildings, as well as for its gardens and squares.

You can explore the site at your own pace, starting with the Pyramid of the Magician, the most emblematic monument of the site and one of the oldest. Do not miss the Quadrangle of the Magicians either, a set of buildings in the shape of an interior courtyard, decorated with sculpted friezes.

It is recommended to wear comfortable clothing and shoes, as the site has many steps and uneven terrain. Also remember to bring water and protect yourself from the sun, as some areas of the site have no shade.

The women of the village of Mucuyché, a small community located 1.5 hours south of Mérida, have chosen to share their culture and expertise with travellers through an authentic and unique experience. You will begin by discovering traditional cuisine, prepared in the "casita" of one of the 12 women in the cooperative. Next, you will participate in a hammock-making workshop, used here as beds, to immerse yourself in local artisanal skills.

Then, you will explore the magnificent Yaal Utzi cenote, a little-frequented place where nature will offer you a moment of tranquility.

This ecotourism project, managed by the Vsocial foundation, enables the women of Mucuyché to access economic opportunities that help them emancipate themselves, despite a culture still largely dominated by machismo, while preserving their traditions and expertise.

• The city walls Walk along the ancient walls that once surrounded the city of Campeche, built to protect the city from pirate attacks. You will find observation towers offering breathtaking views of the city and the sea.

• The city museum This museum traces the fascinating history of Campeche, from its strategic role during the colonial period to its modern development. Admission is approximately €2 (closed on Mondays).

• The Maya architecture museum Immerse yourself in Maya architecture in this museum dedicated to the impressive achievements of this ancient civilization. You will discover sculptures, archaeological site plans and information on the design of Maya cities. Admission is approximately €5 (closed on Mondays).

• Main square (Plaza Independencia) This vibrant heart of Campeche is ideal for a leisurely stroll. Surrounded by colorful colonial buildings, the square is a meeting place where locals gather for events or simply to relax. Don't miss the cathedral, a masterpiece of colonial architecture.

• The Malecón This waterfront promenade offers spectacular views of the Gulf of Mexico. Perfect for an evening walk, it is also a popular spot for cyclists and joggers.

Calakmul is a Maya archaeological site located in the State of Campeche, in Mexique. It is situated in the Calakmul biosphere reserve, one of the largest tropical forests in the country, which is home to a great diversity of animal and plant species.

The Calakmul site includes more than 6,750 structures, such as pyramids, temples, palaces and stelae. It is one of the largest Maya archaeological sites ever discovered and is considered one of the most important centers of Maya civilization.

At its height, the city of Calakmul was a great regional power, rivaling other major Maya cities such as Tikal and Palenque. The main building on the site is the pyramid of Structure II, which measures approximately 45 meters high. This pyramid, once the tallest in the Maya region, offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding jungle.

The site is also famous for its stone-carved stelae, used to commemorate important events in Maya history. Many stelae at Calakmul depict Maya kings and queens, as well as scenes of battles and human sacrifice.

Located in an isolated jungle area, Calakmul offers a mystical and remote atmosphere. Although visiting can be somewhat challenging due to hot and humid weather conditions, it is a true treasure for enthusiasts of Maya history and culture.

Note: There is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes of travel between your hotel and the Calakmul archaeological site.
