Which vaccines are mandatory and recommended for a trip to Kazakhstan?
No vaccines are mandatory for Kazakhstan, except a yellow fever certificate if you're coming from an endemic area. Recommended: DT-Polio booster, hepatitis A and B, and tick-borne encephalitis for rural and forested areas.
Mandatory vaccines
No vaccine is required to enter Kazakhstan. Only exception: a yellow fever vaccination certificate may be requested if you are coming from an area where this disease is present.
Recommended vaccines
- Universal vaccinations: diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, poliomyelitis (DT-Polio) — check that you are up to date
- Hepatitis A: recommended for all travellers
- Hepatitis B: advised, especially for long stays
- Tick-borne encephalitis: essential if you visit forested or rural areas where ticks are present
Additional health advice
Take out travel insurance which is recommended or even essential. On site, favour cooked food, drink only bottled or boiled water, and wash your hands frequently.
