What vaccinations are required or recommended for a trip to Iceland?

No vaccinations are mandatory for travel to Iceland. Universal vaccinations (DTP, hepatitis A and B) remain recommended as with any international trip, but Iceland presents no particular health risks.

No mandatory vaccinations

Iceland does not require any mandatory vaccinations for travelers, regardless of their origin. The country enjoys excellent health conditions and has no tropical or endemic diseases.

Recommended universal vaccinations

As with any trip abroad, it is recommended to be up to date with your universal vaccinations:

  • DTP (Diphtheria, Tetanus, Poliomyelitis) — booster every 10 years
  • Hepatitis A — recommended for all travelers
  • Hepatitis B — depending on planned activities
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) — check immunity

Key points

Iceland has a modern and efficient healthcare system. Health risks there are very low, comparable to those in France. However, travel insurance is still recommended to cover medical expenses and repatriation.
