Arrival in Athens, Plaka
To Athènes
Arrival at Athens airport, welcome and transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day free. Get a first taste of the city by strolling through the Plaka district, the old town at the foot of the Acropolis, going up and down the streets with their small traditional houses. You will find many taverns, cafés and shops with all sorts of original items.
Acropolis, Acropolis Museum, Monastiraki, Central Market
Visit the Acropolis and its Museum. Continue with a visit to the Agora and a stroll through the traditional neighborhood of Monastiraki, where you will find many restaurants and various shops. It is worth walking up Athinas Street to the picturesque central market. You will find many traditional shops of all kinds: grocery stores, hardware stores, etc.
In the evening you can attend a presentation of authentic traditional Greek dances at the famous "Dora Stratou" theater next to the Acropolis. Performances in early evening, from late May to mid-September. You can also spend a lively evening in the trendy neighborhood of Psyrri, where you will find tavernas, restaurants and bars with music, or have a cocktail while admiring the Acropolis from one of the rooftop bars around Monastiraki square.
National Archaeological Museum, Cape Sounion, Thission
Visit the National Archaeological Museum and choose from the Museum of Cycladic Art, the Benaki Museum, the Byzantine Museum and others according to your interests. In the afternoon, you can take an excursion to Cape Sounio and visit the Temple of Poseidon.
Stroll on Filopappou Hill, opposite the entrance to the Acropolis, then discover the Thission district by continuing along the pedestrian street Dionysis Aéropagitou, a lively area with trendy cafeterias and restaurants offering quality services and a superb view of the Propylaea of the Acropolis. Thission metro station is located below, with direct line to Piraeus (20 minutes).
Treat yourself by choosing an alternative guided tour of Athens with a specialist guide on different themes: culinary discovery, historic city center, mythology, cooking classes, treasure hunt, graffiti (street art), electric bike, segway, etc.
Corinth, Argolis, Nafplio
Driving
Car pickup at your hotel and departure from Athens to Nafplio, crossing the Corinth Canal (park at the restaurant located just before the bridge, renowned for its souvlakis). We recommend a stop at the magnificent site of the Heraion of Perachora, in the Gulf of Corinth (before the canal).
Then visit the site and archaeological museum of ancient Corinth, which have just been restored, and Acrocorinth (to be avoided in peak heat), Tiryns and Mycenae (Unesco site), the Theatre of Epidaurus and the Sanctuary of Asklepios (Unesco site). The Argolid region, which you will cross during this journey, is renowned for its orange plantations. You will find beautiful beaches in the Nafplio region.
Climb up to Palamedes fortress in the evening and dine in the old town of Nafplio. You will see very beautiful aristocratic houses from the 19th century, as it was the first capital of modern Grèce.

Olympia
Driving
Head to Olympia by crossing the mountainous centre of the Peloponnese, passing through the central town of Tripoli.
Stop in the picturesque traditional village of Andritsaina and visit the beautiful ancient temple of Apollo Epicurean at Bassae (Unesco site) 7km from the village.
In the afternoon, visit the museum and site of Olympia (Unesco site) and overnight in Olympia.
Delphi
Driving
Departure for Delphi, following the coast of the Peloponnese. Crossing the Rio-Antirio Bridge, then by a beautiful road along the Gulf of Corinth, you will arrive at the "navel of the world". Visit of the museum and archaeological site of Delphi (Unesco site), as well as the famous temple of Apollo Pythian.

Hosios Loukas - Athens
Driving
Departure for Athens.
Visit on the way the Hosios Loukas Monastery (UNESCO site), a small detour of 25 km, but well worth it. Overnight in Athens.
N.B. Depending on your flight departure time, you can return the car at the airport. It is also possible to spend the last night by the sea, on the north coast of Attica (20-30 km from the airport)

Day 7: Kalampaka
Departure for the Meteora crossing the vast olive groves of Amfissa and the fertile plains of central Grèce. Overnight in Kalampaka, at the foot of the Meteora (235 km / 3h20m)
Day 8: Meteora
Visit of the spectacular Meteora Monasteries (Unesco site), then return to Athens. Stop en route at the Thermopylae, where you will find the monument dedicated to Leonidas and the 300. Overnight in Athens (356 km / 4h10m)
Day 9: Departure
Departure from your hotel and transfer to Athens airport.

The information below concerns travelers who are nationals of the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, and Canada traveling to Greece for a tourist stay. As entry rules may change, we recommend verifying the information with the official authorities before your departure.
Passport and ID card
Nationals of the European Economic Area can enter Greece with a valid passport or national ID card. The document must be in good condition (no damaged, torn, or altered pages).
Swiss and Canadian nationals must carry a valid passport. It is recommended that it be valid beyond your planned return date and have at least one blank page for immigration stamps.
Tourist stay without visa
Greece is a member of the Schengen area. Nationals of the European Economic Area benefit from freedom of movement and can stay without any time limit for a tourist stay.
Swiss and Canadian nationals benefit from a visa exemption for tourist stays in the Schengen area, up to 90 days within any 180-day period. This rule applies to all Schengen countries combined.
ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System)
As of its entry into force, Swiss and Canadian nationals will need to obtain an ETIAS authorization before any trip to the Schengen area, including Greece.
This prior authorization, separate from a visa, must be requested online before departure. It will be linked to your passport and valid for multiple stays over a period of three years (or until the passport expires). The information to be provided will include in particular:
passport information,
personal contact details,
a few questions relating to security and travel history.
We recommend consulting the official ETIAS website to find out the date this system comes into effect before your departure.
Traveling with children
Minor nationals of the EEA can travel with their own ID card or passport. It is strongly recommended that each child has their own travel document.
In some European countries, when a minor travels without one of their parents, an exit authorization may be required according to the regulations of the country of residence.
Other nationalities
Entry conditions may vary depending on nationality. Affected travelers should inquire with the embassy or consulate of Greece in their country of residence.
