The spirit of travel

Welcome to one of Africa's premier wildlife destinations, a preserved territory where nature displays all its power and diversity. The Chobe Reserve boasts a wide variety of mammals, including predators, lions and leopards, but also many other species that inhabit its varied landscapes between savanna, riverine forests and wetland areas.

Chobe offers spectacular views along its famous Chobe River, a place where you will encounter its massive elephant population, one of the densest on the African continent, coming to drink and bathe throughout the day. The riverbanks also abound with rich birdlife, as well as hippopotamuses and buffalo, offering scenes of wildlife at every moment.

You will be delighted by this safari adventure in the heart of true African life, between privileged observations and moments of contemplation facing grandiose landscapes.

The information below concerns travelers who are nationals of the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, and Canada traveling to Botswana for a tourist stay. Entry requirements may change, and we recommend verifying information with official authorities before your departure.

Passport

To enter Botswana, your passport must be valid for a minimum of six months beyond your date of entry and contain at least two blank pages for immigration stamps.
The document must be in good condition (no damaged, torn, or altered pages).

Tourist stay without visa

Nationals of the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and Canada benefit from a visa exemption for tourist stays in Botswana.

This exemption allows stays of up to 90 days per twelve-month period. An extension may be requested on-site from the Botswana Department of Immigration, subject to approval.

Authorities may also request:

  • an exit ticket from the territory (return or onward flight),

  • proof of sufficient financial resources for the duration of your stay,

  • a confirmation of accommodation booking.

Health and vaccinations

No vaccinations are mandatory to enter Botswana from the EEA, Switzerland, or Canada, except in the case of recent transit through a country at risk of yellow fever, in which case an international yellow fever vaccination certificate may be required on entry.

It is strongly recommended to consult a doctor or vaccination center before departure. Recommended vaccinations include:

  • typhoid fever,

  • hepatitis A and hepatitis B,

  • updated routine vaccinations (diphtheria, tetanus, poliomyelitis).

Malaria is present in certain regions of the northern part of the country, particularly in the Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park areas. Antimalarial prophylaxis is strongly recommended for travelers visiting these zones. Consult a doctor before your departure to adapt the treatment to your situation.

Traveling with children

Minors must hold their own valid passport covering the duration of the stay.

Botswana applies strict rules regarding minor travel: any child traveling without one or both parents must present a parental authorization letter, accompanied by birth certificates and copies of the parents' passports. These documents may be requested upon entry. It is recommended to have them legalized or apostilled.

In certain European countries, when a minor travels without one of their parents, an authorization to leave the territory may also be required according to the regulations of the country of residence.

Other nationalities

Entry conditions may vary depending on nationality. Travelers concerned should inquire with the Botswana embassy or consulate of their country of residence.
