Drive to your hotel, located a short walk from the famous Saturday morning market in Hobart: Salamanca Market.
Depending on your arrival time, take your first steps in the port city. A friendly capital blending history and modern culture, Hobart is the starting point for your visit to the island at the end of the world.

Nature Day at Bruny Island
Hobart → Bruny Island
Today, you are departing for a day trip to Bruny Island. Separated from Tasmania's main island by the d'Entrecasteaux Channel, Bruny Island boasts a pristine natural environment, with abundant wildlife and stunning coastal landscapes.
Bruny Island → Hobart
Departing from Hobart, embark on a guided excursion including transfers, ferry crossing and a minibus tour with specialist guide. An exhilarating three-hour cruise takes you to discover the southern part of Bruny Island, its seals, dolphins, whales and seabirds. This experience takes you to inaccessible places, safely, accompanied by a passionate and expert local guide. Back on the mainland, it is after an excellent lunch of local products at Adventure Bay that you continue exploring the island.
Return to Hobart in late afternoon.
On the Road to the Tasman Peninsula
Head south towards the Tasman Peninsula, a series of rocky headlands, cliffs and spectacular bays.
Along the way, we strongly suggest stopping at the "Unzoo", a sanctuary for the region's wildlife. The site actively works towards protecting the Tasmanian devil.
Pass through Eaglehawk Neck, a remarkable geological formation before continuing to the historic site of Port Arthur, a former penal colony, now a leading tourist attraction, where you will stay for the next two nights.
Admission to the historic site (included in your stay) comprises a gallery on the history of Port Arthur from Aboriginal peoples to the arrival of convicts (interactive exhibition), a guided walking tour (40 min, in English), a bay cruise around the site (25 min) and access to over 30 historic buildings, ruins, restored houses and marked trails.
Activity suggestion: in the evening, opt for a Ghost Tour, a visit full of intrigue and mystery in the darkness of this former convict site.
Tasman Peninsula
Day of free visit or optional activities.
For hikers, Tasman National Park offers spectacular walks between forests and cliffs: Cape Raoul, Cape Hauy and Bivouac Bay and Waterfall Bay are among the 60 greatest short walks in Tasmania (Tasmania's 60 Great Short Walks).
Suggested activity: nature cruise along the spectacular coast of Tasman National Park to explore waterfalls, rock formations and observe marine wildlife.

Heading to Freycinet National Park
Port Arthur → Péninsule de Freycinet
Route to the superb Freycinet Peninsula. A day of driving at your own pace on Tasmania's roads. You travel through the East Coast villages such as Triabunna (gateway to Maria Island) and Swansea where you will find the museum commemorating the exploration of the coast by Nicolas Baudin.
Arrival on the peninsula in the afternoon. Enjoy the superb sunset at Honeymoon Bay.
Activity suggestion: Visit to an oyster farming farm and tasting.
Freycinet National Park
Full day discovering the Freycinet National Park, according to your wishes and passions.
The Freycinet National Park is home to many natural assets at every corner of the peninsula. Admire Wineglass Bay from accessible viewpoints on a half-day or full-day walk. Walk on white sandy beaches and breathe the pure air of this unique land.
Stay alert to wildlife active in the morning and at the end of the day. Wallabies, echidnas and even penguins inhabit the park. It is not uncommon to encounter them during walks or activities.
For experienced hikers, venture onto Mount Amos, the highest point of the "Hazards", which majestically overlooks Coles Bay and the national park.
Activity suggestions: cruise to Wineglass Bay, guided kayak tour, guided walk.
On the way to Cradle Mountain
Péninsule de Freycinet → Cradle Mountain
Next leg of your road trip in Australia! Head to the unmissable Cradle Mountain National Park, a World Heritage Site. Pass through Launceston and the spectacular Cataract Gorge before reaching your alpine accommodation for the next two nights.
Early evening, you'll participate in a small group exclusive visit to the wildlife sanctuary Devils @ Cradle (available only between October and April). An intimate experience including backstage access to the sanctuary, a Tasmanian devil feeding session and the opportunity for close encounters with baby animals.

Cradle Mountain National Park
A hiker's paradise, particularly renowned for the famous "Overland Track", Cradle Mountains is also popular for bird and wildlife watching, not forgetting Dove Lake where you can walk around following the marked trails.
Walkers of all levels, nature lovers as well as active travellers seeking thrills, choose your activity and enjoy this exceptional experience.
Activity suggestions: horseback riding in the bush, canyoning at Dove River, canoe tour to observe platypuses in their natural habitat.
Destination Strahan and the Wild West
The short stage of the day lets you enjoy Cradle Mountains a little longer for your final explorations or to relax and enjoy a good lunch in an idyllic setting.
Head west to Strahan and its natural harbour formed by Macquarie Harbour. Make a detour to "Henty Dunes", an amazing series of dunes approximately thirty metres high.
About fifteen kilometres separate you from Strahan and its historic railway station from which the West Coast Wilderness Railway departs.

Beauty of Preserved Nature
In the morning, you embark on a fantastic boat trip. You sail from Macquarie Harbour aboard a comfortable boat specially designed to navigate silently on the Gordon River thanks to its electric motors and hybrid propulsion system.
While the highlight of the cruise is experienced during an extraordinary walk to discover the rainforest, you also explore Sarah Island for its historical heritage.
A generous buffet lunch is composed of excellent local products. You return in mid-afternoon.
The rest of the day is free to explore local attractions.
During the summer months, the short walk to Hogarth Falls (among the 60 most beautiful short walks in Tasmania) concludes a day rich in discovery.
Discovery of Mount Field National Park
Strahan → Parc National Mount Field
Your road trip continues with a visit to Tasmania's oldest national park: the Mount Field National Park.
A beautiful half-day drive from the wild west coast and through small villages south of Lake St Clair such as Queenstown and its copper mine, then Derwent Bridge, which became famous for the Wall In The Wilderness.

Numerous well-maintained trails and diverse abundant wildlife (wombats, wallabies, opossums) await you there for further exploration.
We recommend the Pandani Grove walk around Lake Dobson for a chance to spot a platypus.

You have the whole day to visit the national park located an hour from Hobart. During your visits, don't miss the walks to Russell Falls and Tall Trees Walk through the giant eucalyptus forest (Swamp Gum).

The information below applies to travelers who are nationals of the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, and Canada traveling to Australia for a tourist stay. Entry requirements may change, so we recommend verifying information with the official authorities before your departure.
Passport
To enter Australia, your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay. It is, however, strongly recommended that it remain valid for at least six months after your planned return date.
The document must be in good condition (no damaged, torn, or altered pages).
Electronic Visa (eVisitor or ETA)
Australia does not grant visa exemptions in the traditional sense. Nationals of the European Economic Area and Switzerland are eligible for the eVisitor visa (subclass 651), while Canadian nationals must apply for an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA, subclass 601). Both of these electronic authorizations are free or low-cost, electronically linked to the passport, and do not result in any stamp or visa label.
These authorizations permit tourist stays of up to 3 months per visit, with overall validity of 12 months from the date of issue. They may allow multiple entries during this period.
The application must be completed online before departure, via the official website of the Australian Department of Home Affairs or the Australian ETA application. Authorization is generally issued quickly, sometimes within minutes.
Authorities may request:
proof of an outbound ticket (return or onward flight),
proof of sufficient financial resources for the duration of your stay.
Declaration on Arrival
Before or upon arrival in Australia, travelers must complete an Incoming Passenger Card. This form provides customs and biosecurity services with:
personal and passport information,
flight and travel details,
customs declarations (food, plants, animals, medications, currency, etc.).
Australia enforces strict biosecurity rules: certain food items, plants, animal products, and wooden articles may be prohibited or subject to inspection. It is essential to declare any item that may be affected, as failure to do so can result in substantial fines.
Traveling with Children
Minors must hold their own valid passport as well as their own electronic authorization (eVisitor or ETA).
In certain European countries, when a minor travels without one of their parents, an exit authorization may be required according to the regulations of their country of residence.
Health
No vaccinations are mandatory to enter Australia for travelers from Europe or Canada. However, it is recommended that you ensure that routine vaccinations are up to date. Travel insurance covering medical expenses is strongly advised, as healthcare in Australia can be costly for non-residents.

Entry conditions may vary depending on nationality. Affected travelers should inquire with the Australian embassy or consulate in their country of residence.
