Tokyo, the titan of Japan

We begin our first adventure in Japon with a trip to the heart of the monumental Tokyo. This megacity immerses us in its urban atmosphere from the morning with its extraordinary public transport network. Visiting it without a ride on one of its metros would be a real shame!

We then take the Yamanote circular line. This route allows us to catch glimpses of enormous glass buildings and steel constructions. It also allows us to admire all of its most popular neighborhoods including Shinjuku, the famous skyscraper district, Shibuya with its celebrated crossing, fashion shops and night entertainment, and Akihabara with its electronic and manga world.

At the end of the day, we head to the artificial island of Odaiba to enjoy its many attractions. We can admire the beauty of Tokyo under the veil of night with its sparkling lights in the distance.

Finally, a traditional local restaurant is a must to taste the authentic sushi of Japon!

Hakone, closest to Mount Fuji

TokyoHakone

1h3090 km

Today, we are definitively leaving Tokyo and its hustle and bustle and taking the mountain road.

After 1.5 hours of travel, we arrive in the Hakone region, which attracts many tourists with its tranquility and freshness. They come here for its proximity to Mount Fuji and for its abundance of natural hot springs. It is a place where relaxation and contemplation are paramount. We enjoy its hot springs while savoring its typically Japanese landscapes.

We then take a cable car that takes us to the fumaroles of the volcanic valley of Owakudani station, Hakone. Perched high up, we have an incredible view of the volcano.

We continue with a boat ride on Lake Ashi which offers on clear days a sublime view of Mount Fuji.

We conclude this mountain getaway in a Ryokan, traditional Japanese inns (traditional Japanese inn). We enjoy its onsen, Japanese hot springs or hot springs. Then we taste a seasonal dinner, kaiseki. In a traditional spirit, we spend the night the Japanese way: on futons placed on tatami mats.

We then head to the Fushimi Inari Shrine to see its thousands of red torii (gates) forming a marked pathway through the mountain.

Kyoto, Between Temples and Gardens

The ancient city of Kyoto is full of important buildings and cultural sites. One of the peculiarities of this city remains its 2000 shrines and temples.

This stay will not allow us to see them all. However, we will be able to visit the most remarkable ones, including the Golden Pavilion Kinkaku, the garden of Ryoan-ji temple and the Silver Pavilion (Ginkaku temple.

To occupy our free time, we can rent bikes to ride along the banks of the Kamo river (only if weather permits). Otherwise, we can go hiking towards the summit of Mount Hiei or that of Mount Arashiyama with its bamboo grove.

In the evening, shabu-shabu is highly recommended for dinner! This specialty is a true delight for the taste buds. It is a Japanese fondue where you dip thin slices of meat into various vegetable broths.

Exploration and Relaxation in Okinawa

We have 3 full days to deepen our discovery of Okinawa honto or take advantage of the idyllic setting to relax.

With our car at our disposal, we can notably take a tour of the capital Naha, stroll along its main street Kokusai-doori and take the opportunity to combine shopping and culinary pleasures.

Additionally, a boat excursion can take us to the small islands of Zamami, Kume and Tokashiki. Little contaminated by the modern world, these islets stand out for the beauty of their nature.
