The spirit of travel

Set off on a journey to Slovénie, discovering a country where historical heritage, local traditions, alpine landscapes and Mediterranean charm meet. From the lively streets of Ljubljana to the crystalline waters of Lake Bled, this itinerary invites you to explore the different facets of Slovénie, between historic cities, verdant mountains and authentic villages. Your adventure begins in Ljubljana, the Slovenian capital, where you discover the charm of its historic center, its emblematic bridges and its castle overlooking the city. Continue your journey towards the alpine pastures of Velika Planina, a vast mountain plateau where the traditional shepherds' huts bear witness to a pastoral way of life still very much present. Between walks in the alpine pastures, discovery of local traditions and tasting of local products, enjoy an immersion in Slovenian culture. Along your route, also discover Postojna, known for its underground world, before heading to the Slovenian coast. In Piran, let yourself be seduced by Venetian heritage, narrow streets and panoramic views over the Adriatic Sea. This Mediterranean stage contrasts with the mountainous landscapes that characterize much of the country.

Your stay also takes you to Lake Bled, surrounded by mountains and verdant landscapes. Take time to appreciate the tranquility of the place, to stroll along the water's edge and to discover the surroundings at your own pace. Between cultural visits, natural discoveries, craft traditions and local encounters, this 8-day circuit in Slovénie offers a nice balance between exploration and relaxation. An invitation to discover Slovenian authenticity through the diversity of its landscapes, its heritage and its traditions.

Take time to stroll through its streets, visit an old church or enjoy a coffee on a terrace while admiring the surrounding peaks.

Then continue your journey towards the Kamniška Bistrica cable car station to reach Velika Planina, a vast alpine plateau renowned for its unspoiled landscapes and pastoral traditions. The cable car ride, followed by the chairlift, allows you to enjoy panoramic views of the forests and alpine ridges.

Once on the plateau, set off to discover the traditional shepherd's huts, characteristic of Velika Planina. Between caves, castles and Slovenian forests

Ljubljana → Postojna

45min53 km

Leave Ljubljana in the morning and head towards Postojna. Start the day with a must-see visit to the famous Postojna Cave, a true underground masterpiece and one of Slovénie's most iconic attractions. Board the small train that takes you through a spectacular network of galleries, vast chambers and impressive limestone formations. Admire the stalactites and stalagmites carved by nature over millennia and discover the cave's unique fauna, including the mysterious "proteus", nicknamed the "baby dragon".
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, where you can taste Slovenian specialties such as mushroom soup, "žlikrofi" (local ravioli) or game-based dishes.

After lunch, visit the fascinating Predjama Castle, an architectural masterpiece unique in the world. This medieval castle, perched on a cliff face and integrated into a cave, seems straight out of a fairy tale. A walk around the castle also offers the opportunity to appreciate the wild beauty of the surrounding nature, making this visit as enriching as it is inspiring. End the day with a unique and memorable adventure: observing brown bears in their natural habitat. Accompanied by a passionate and experienced guide, you will be driven by jeep through a preserved forest to the observation point. After a short walk, you will settle into a wooden cabin discreetly nestled in nature. There, in absolute silence, you may have the chance to see these majestic animals moving freely in their environment. Although the appearance of bears is not guaranteed, the experience of this immersion in the heart of Slovenian nature, between serenity and wonder, will remain etched in your memory.

Between Legendary Horses and Mediterranean Charm

Set off for a day of discovery between equestrian traditions and Mediterranean heritage, from the famous Lipica stud farm to the coastal towns of Koper, Izola and Piran, bordered by the Adriatic Sea.

Begin your day with a visit to the Lipica stud farm, birthplace of the famous Lipizzan horses, renowned for their elegance. Founded in 1580, this historic stud farm is among the oldest in Europe. Discover the history of these emblematic horses, explore the stables and vast meadows where they roam freely. Depending on the day's program, you may also be able to attend an equestrian demonstration.

Continue your journey towards the Slovenian coast to reach Koper, a port city marked by its Venetian heritage. Stroll through the narrow streets of the old town to Tito Square, surrounded by historic buildings. You can in particular admire the Praetorian Palace and the Assumption Cathedral, two monuments representative of Koper's architectural heritage.

Continue your discovery of the coastline at Izola, a former fishing village that has retained its authentic charm. Wander along the harbor, explore its picturesque streets and enjoy views over the Adriatic Sea in a Mediterranean atmosphere.

End your day in Piran, a coastal town with a rich Venetian past. Wander through its narrow streets lined with colorful facades and discover its main monuments, including Tartini Square and Saint George Cathedral. Continue to the ramparts of Piran, from where you can admire a panorama of the town and the Adriatic Sea.

The Emerald Route of the Julian Alps

Postojna → Bled

100 km

From Postojna to Bled, this day takes you to discover the magnificent Vipava valley, renowned for its rolling landscapes, lush vineyards and picturesque villages. Make a stop in Slap for a tasting of local wines, where you can discover the unique grape varieties Zelen and Pinela, then continue to the charming village of Vipava. Stroll through its narrow streets, discover its stone bridges and admire the source of the Vipava river, which springs forth in several arms in the heart of the village. Your journey continues towards Kobarid. Don't miss a visit to the Kobarid Museum, which emotionally recounts the battles of the Isonzo front during World War I. Take time to climb up to the memorial to Italian soldiers: perched on the heights, it offers a breathtaking panorama over the valley. To complete the exploration, take a trip to Kozjak waterfall.
Then continue towards Tolmin, famous for its spectacular gorges, an essential site in the Triglav National Park. A walk through this impressive canyon takes you between rocky walls and turquoise waters: don't miss the Devil's Bridge, suspended 60 meters above the gorge, and the thermal spring nestled near the Zadlaščica river.
After Tolmin, experience something unique: board your vehicle onto the train at Most na Soči for a panoramic crossing of valleys and tunnels to Bohinjska Bistrica. All that's left is to reach Bled, where the famous lake and the gentleness of the alpine landscapes will conclude this day rich in discoveries and emotions.

Lake Bled, Living Postcard

Begin your discovery of Lake Bled by gaining some altitude. Climb up to the majestic Bled Castle, a thousand-year-old fortress perched 130 metres above the turquoise lake. From its ramparts, the panorama is simply breathtaking: the island, the shimmering lake and the Julian Alps peaks in the background. The museum exhibitions will immerse you in an era when nobles from across Europe competed for this strategic location. For lunch, enjoy the castle restaurant with its stunning views or try an establishment by the lakeside. For those who prefer to picnic, you will find numerous spots by the lake to settle down peacefully.

In the afternoon, board a traditional "pletna" boat, these unique vessels found only in Bled, propelled by oars by "pletnars" whose craftsmanship has been passed down from father to son since the 16th century. On Bled Island, climb the 99 steps (a tradition for good luck!) up to the Church of the Assumption to ring the wish bell – legend says your wish will come true.

For afternoon snack, we recommend the famous "kremšnita", an airy pastry cream between two layers of crispy pastry, a recipe jealously guarded since 1953 by the Park Hotel patisserie. The view of the lake in the background enhances this local delicacy even further.

In the evening, you can enjoy mountain trout in one of the many traditional restaurants.
