Laguna Esmeralda is a glacial lake of natural origin, located about twenty kilometers north of Ushuaia, in the province of Tierra del Fuego, in the heart of an environment marked by the landscapes of Tierra del Fuego. Its name refers to the blue-green tint of its waters, linked to sediments from the Ojo del Albino glacier.

The hike takes place generally on a route of moderate difficulty. The route does not present particularly technical passages, but some sections may be muddy or wet, with rocks, logs or roots. The final climb generally requires additional effort.
