The itinerary combines cultural stages, natural discoveries and immersion in emblematic sites of the country, while following a smooth and guided pace. From Muscat to Sur, from Wahiba Sands to Nizwa, then to Salalah, this journey allows you to experience the diversity of Omani landscapes and the richness of its heritage.

From Muscat to Sur between sea and wadis
Aéroport de Mascate → Sur
Upon your arrival at Muscat International Airport (MCT), you are welcomed by our representative, who accompanies you through the first stages of your stay.
You then meet your English-speaking guide, with whom you set off towards Sur.
Your itinerary begins with a stop at Bimmah Sinkhole, a natural formation resulting from the collapse of limestone. This sinkhole is home to turquoise water, suitable for swimming or observing the site.
You continue towards Fins Beach, a beach known for its clear sand and crystal-clear waters, located near Sur.
The day continues at Wadi Shab. Access begins with a short boat crossing, followed by a walk along trails bordered by rock formations and terraced gardens.
On site, you discover natural pools, as well as passages leading to caves and a waterfall accessible through a narrow passage.
At the end of the day, arrival in Sur and check-in at the hotel.
From Sur to Ras Al Jinz and Turtle Watching

Before heading to Ras Al Jinz, explore Sur, a coastal city known for its maritime heritage. You discover its port, its traditional wooden dhows and the old town with its whitewashed houses, offering an insight into Oman's maritime past and its evolution.
Upon arrival, check-in at the eco-lodge, followed by dinner on site.
In the evening, around 9:00 PM (time subject to change), departure for the Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve to attend turtle watching. Accompanied by rangers, you discover green turtles in their natural environment, whether during nesting or when the young head to the sea.
Return to the eco-lodge for the night.
Wadi Bani Khalid & Wahiba Sands Desert

You then take the road towards Wahiba Sands.
On the way, discover Wadi Bani Khalid, an oasis known for its clear pools, date palms and rocky ridges. You can swim in its waters or enjoy a walk along the wadi trails. This stop allows you to appreciate one of Oman's most well-known natural sites.
The day continues in Wahiba Sands with a dune crossing at the end of the day, followed by a sunset in the desert. This excursion takes you across the dunes to discover the Saharan landscape as the colors change with the evening light.
At the end of this experience, check-in at the camp, then dinner and overnight stay.
Ibra and road to Nizwa

You then head towards Nizwa.
On the way, stop in Ibra, one of Oman's oldest settlements, known for its traditional earthen brick houses and rich cultural heritage. You discover the old quarter and the authentic atmosphere of this city, once an important center of trade and knowledge. Ibra also allows you to experience local life in Oman, away from the main tourist circuits.
On Wednesday, possible discovery of the Ibra Women's Market, known locally as Souq Al Nisa. This traditional market is entirely run by women and, for a few hours in the morning, exclusively reserved for female visitors. In a lively atmosphere, Omani women sell notably handcrafted jewelry, traditional textiles, perfumes, fresh products and homemade sweets. It is an opportunity to discover Omani culture, meet local artisans and observe traditional clothing and crafts. For visitors, this market also offers a chance to witness a particular expression of Omani heritage, where tradition and community spirit come together.
Note: the market is generally active from early morning until around noon, and it is recommended to arrive early to make the most of it.

Traditions of Nizwa

The day begins with the Friday livestock market in Nizwa. You will discover a still very much alive tradition, where farmers from neighbouring villages come to sell their livestock. Goats, cattle and camels parade before the auctions, in a lively atmosphere that reflects rural Omani life and Nizwa's local traditions.
You then continue to the Nizwa souk, a bustling market where traditional products, spices, pottery, artisanal silverware and antiques mingle. This visit allows you to meet local craftsmen, taste Omani delicacies and discover souvenirs linked to the region's craftsmanship.
The visit continues with the Nizwa Fort, a 17th-century fortress built by Imam Sultan bin Saif. Known for its vast circular tower and strategic position, this fort showcases traditional Omani architecture and offers views over the old town and surrounding mountains. Inside, exhibitions present weapons, tools and various historical objects related to Nizwa's cultural and defensive heritage.
The journey continues towards Misfah Al Abriyeen, a mountain village where traditional adobe brick houses rise along cliff faces and ancient falaj channels irrigate terraced crops. You walk along shaded paths lined with date palms, pomegranates and ancient stone structures. This stop gives an insight into traditional mountain life and Omani architectural heritage.
The day ends at Jabreen Castle, near Bahla. Built in the late 17th century, this three-storey castle served both as a residence and a learning centre. As you explore its decorated rooms, wooden ceilings, secret staircases and defensive elements, you discover the history of Oman, its architecture and its rulers. From the roof, the castle offers panoramic views, while inside, original sculptures, calligraphy and ornate ceilings testify to the refinement of Omani craftsmanship of the era.

Al Hoota, Al Hamra and Jebel Shams

You then head towards Jebel Shams.
The day begins with a visit to Al Hoota Cave, a geological formation composed of natural galleries and rock formations. The journey leads to the entrance of the site, where you explore a world of stalactites, stalagmites and the underground lake of the cave, known for hosting rare blind fish.
You then continue towards Al Hamra, one of the oldest villages in Oman. Its mud brick houses spread across the slopes of the Hajar mountains, between narrow streets, date palms and ancient dwellings. This stop allows you to experience a traditional way of life still very much present, as well as the ancient irrigation systems, or falaj, in a preserved environment.
The visit continues at Bait Al Safah Museum, housed in a traditional mud brick house in the heart of Al Hamra. Transformed into a living museum, the place highlights gestures and daily customs passed down from generation to generation, such as bread baking, coffee grinding or oil extraction with traditional tools. As you explore the different rooms of this restored dwelling, you discover everyday objects and scenes from the past, in both a cultural and convivial approach.
The day then continues at Jebel Shams, the highlight of this stage. From Oman's highest mountain, which overlooks Wadi Ghul, also called the Grand Canyon of Arabia, you enjoy views of the deep gorges, steep cliffs and surrounding landscapes.

Return to Muscat

You then continue driving towards Muscat.
This day is dedicated to discovering Wadi Bani Awf, known for its striking landscapes, narrow canyons and rock formations. The itinerary follows winding roads, crosses hidden villages and allows you to experience a more raw side of the Omani countryside, with its reliefs and natural beauty.

Flight to Salalah

You then leave the hotel for your transfer to Muscat International Airport (MCT).

Upon arrival at Salalah International Airport (SLL), you head to your hotel and proceed with check-in.

Safari in eastern Salalah

You then meet your English-speaking guide at the hotel for a full day dedicated to discovering the east of Salalah. This safari excursion takes you through the eastern part of Dhofar, between historic sites, nature and marked landscapes.
The day begins with the Taqa castle, in the old fishing village of Taqa. You discover the history of Oman and the role of the castle, which was once the official residence of the wali (governor).
You continue with the ruins of Sumhuram, at Khor Rori, a site listed as UNESCO World Heritage. An ancient center of incense trade, Sumhuram occupied a strategic position between the Mediterranean, the Persian Gulf and India.
The itinerary continues towards Wadi Darbat, where you enjoy a walk in this verdant site, frequented by herds of camels, goats and cattle. During the Khareef season, it is possible to observe a 100-meter waterfall feeding lakes and vegetation.
You then discover the Tawi Attir sinkhole, one of the largest sinkholes in the world, with its 211 meters deep and 150 meters wide. Nicknamed the bird's well, it attracts different species throughout the year.
The day continues at Jebel Samhan, at 1,700 meters altitude, with views over the east coast and the Qara mountain range. This site is often nicknamed the Grand Canyon of Dhofar.
Finally, you take a scenic drive through jebali villages and the Qara mountains. Several photo stops allow you to enjoy the mountainous landscapes and steep reliefs.
Return to the hotel.
Discovery of Western Salalah

You will then meet your English-speaking guide at the hotel for a full day dedicated to discovering western Salalah. This itinerary takes you through the westernmost part of Dhofar, between beaches, mountains and remarkable sites.
Departure is in the morning heading towards Raysut, passing by the port of Salalah. After approximately 30 km, you reach Mughsail Beach, known for its long stretch of white sand and peaceful lagoon. A first stop allows you to appreciate the landscape before continuing towards the mountains.
You then take the winding roads of Jebel Al Qamar, up to the high plateau, with clear views over the coast throughout the journey.
The road continues towards the frankincense valley, a wadi where ancient frankincense trees grow in their natural environment. A short walk allows you to discover this site and better understand the place of frankincense in Omani culture.
You then descend through the mountains to Dhalkut, crossing herders and their camels along the way. This Omani fishing village allows you to observe an aspect of local coastal life. You also discover the baobab, an ancient species present in very few places in Oman.
The return is made via a scenic road through the mountains to reach the main route back to Salalah. A new stop is planned in Mughsail Bay to observe the natural blowholes, where seawater shoots through rock fissures. The Mughsail lagoon also allows you to observe migratory birds, notably pink flamingos.
In the afternoon, you enjoy a moment of relaxation at Mughsail Beach, in a peaceful coastal atmosphere, before heading back to Salalah.
