From the Andes to the Caribbean via the Amazon, this itinerary reveals all the richness and diversity of Colombie. After discovering the colonial heritage of Bogotá, the adventure continues in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, in the Calanoa reserve, between navigation on the Amazon River, wildlife observation and encounters with Tikuna communities. Medellín then reveals its incredible transformation through its creative neighborhoods and warm atmosphere, before immersing yourself in the lush landscapes of Antioquia. The journey continues to Carthagène, colonial jewel of the Caribbean, then to the paradise island of Providencia, renowned for its white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters. A complete itinerary combining nature, culture, adventure and relaxation along Colombia's most beautiful landscapes.

Day-by-day itinerary
Discovery of Bogotá
Overlooking the city and the altiplano, in the heart of the Andes mountain range, Monserrate rises to over 3100 meters above sea level. In addition to a breathtaking panorama, we discover its basilica with neo-colonial architecture. Access is by cable car, and the journey lasts approximately 15 minutes.
Then we set out to discover the historic center of the Colombian capital: Candelaria. It is on foot that we explore its small brightly colored streets and admire its pretty houses flanked by sculpted wooden balconies. During our wanderings we will not miss passing by the Bolivar Square and the Chorro Square, which reveal beautiful buildings with colonial architecture.
We also head towards two of the most interesting museums in the city: the Gold Museum, which houses an exceptional collection of gold objects and emeralds dating from the pre-Hispanic era, and the Botero Museum which presents the works of some of the greatest Colombian artists. Please note: Gold Museum closed on Mondays, Botero Museum closed on Tuesdays.
Heading to the Amazon
Private transfer to the airport for our domestic flight to Leticia, at the confluence of Colombie, Peru and Brazil, in the heart of the Amazon rainforest (airport tax to be paid on site at Leticia airport: COP 32.000).
The experience we will have in the Amazon deliberately avoids tourist attractions to offer the most authentic adventure possible. We will alternate between travel on foot, by canoe and small motorized boats with the aim of observing this exceptional wildlife and flora. The experience is physical and intense, but it's well worth it!
Leticia → Calanoa
After meeting our local guide and a free lunch in Leticia, we start our adventure without further delay with a motorized canoe trip on the Amazon River heading to the Calanoa nature reserve.
We settle into our wonderful lodge and the owners present the local project for nature conservation and education, after which we are free to explore the surroundings and discover its exceptional ecosystem.
After dinner, a short walk during which, with our guide's explanations, we experience the nocturnal magic of the forest and its thousand sounds.

Calanoa Reserve
This morning is dedicated to meeting the Tikuna indigenous community. Accompanied by our guide, we discover a way of life, customs, community functioning and interaction with nature that are worlds apart from our Western life. The welcome is warm and emotions run high!
Depending on the season and weather, there is also the possibility of meeting the communities of El Vergel or Palmeras.
After returning to the lodge for lunch, we set off hiking to discover the Calanoa reserve with an expert guide. Discovery of medicinal or edible forest plants, among towering trees, observation of wildlife (monkeys, parrots, …).
Return by canoe by oar via the Matamata creek (or on foot if the water level is too low).

Day excursion of your choice around Calanoa
Option 1
Exploration of the Mocagua island, located on the Amazon river opposite the reserve. Boat ride along the waterways on the Peruvian side and observation of the extraordinary pink dolphins that give birth in this magical place. Sunset on the river.
Option 2
Boat to Vista Alegre, at the Peruvian border, and jungle hiking (or canoe tour if the forest is flooded). Discovery and experience of artisanal fishing.
Flight to Medellín
Calanoa → Leticia
After breakfast, possible last walk with a local guide to observe the forest birds before taking the boat back to Leticia. In Leticia, possibility to visit the town and notably its ethnographic museum.
The exact program will depend on the boat schedule taken to go to Leticia as well as the flight schedule to Bogotá.
Discovery of Medellín
Evoking drug traffickers and lawlessness in the collective imagination, the legendary insecurity of Medellín is very much a thing of the past. Transformed into a metropolis at the forefront of innovation, the city has undergone and continues to undergo spectacular transformations.
To get a glimpse of this, we visit the Comuna 13 neighborhood, which has become an open-air workshop for urban art (including street art and graffiti) and grassroots initiatives for the restoration and enhancement of local heritage.
We can also explore Pueblito Paisa with its stunning views over the city, take the cable car to the Santa Domingo neighborhood or admire the Plaza Botero.

Heading to the Caribbean Coast
Salgar → Medellín
We hit the road to Medellín this morning and are dropped off at the airport.
A change of scenery. A domestic flight takes us to Cartagena on the Caribbean coast. Airport reception and transfer to our hotel.
A great city and gateway to the Spanish empire in South America, a major hub for the slave trade and the transit of Aztec and Inca gold heading to Spain, bordered by the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea and the lush vegetation of the interior, Cartagena fascinates visitors in more ways than one. We spend several hours strolling through its colorful historic streets where colonial architecture abounds, following in the footsteps of the old pirates, the most famous of whom was Francis Drake.
Providence Island

Transfer to the airport for our flight to the small Caribbean island of Providencia (Island of Providence).

White sand and turquoise water
Free day on Providence Island, a small speck lost in the middle of the Caribbean Sea and blessed with heavenly white sand beaches bordered by turquoise waters that invite you to swim.

Cooking Classes in Cartagena

It is unfortunately time to leave our little island paradise! Transfer to the airport and flight to Cartagena where we settle into our hotel.
To end our stay beautifully, we participate in an ohlala cooking class with a French chef. Preliminary explanations, discovery of ingredients, preparation of dishes and of course tasting, a magical moment for our delighted taste buds!

Passport
To enter Colombia, your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your planned stay and must have at least one blank page for immigration stamps.
The document must be in good condition (no damaged, torn, or altered pages).
Tourist stay without a visa
Nationals of the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and Canada benefit from a visa exemption for tourist stays in Colombia.
Currently, this exemption allows a stay of up to 90 days upon entry to the country. An extension of an additional 90 days can generally be requested on-site with Colombian immigration services (Migración Colombia), up to a maximum of 180 days per calendar year.
The authorities may also request:
an exit ticket from the country (return or onward flight),
proof of sufficient financial resources for the duration of your stay.
Immigration registration
Upon arrival in Colombia, travelers must present themselves to Migración Colombia controls. A migration control form may be provided to fill out before or during the flight, or may be available in digital format depending on the entry point.

It is recommended to keep the entry stamp or document provided by immigration to present when leaving the country.
Health and vaccinations
No vaccinations are mandatory to enter Colombia from the EEA, Switzerland, or Canada. However, certain vaccinations are strongly recommended depending on the regions you visit:
vaccination against yellow fever is recommended for stays in tropical areas (the Amazon, Llanos, certain coasts) and may be required when departing for other countries,
vaccinations against hepatitis A and typhoid are advised.
It is recommended to consult a doctor or an international vaccination center before departure.
Traveling with children
Minors must hold their own valid passport covering the duration of the stay.
In certain European countries, when a minor travels without one of their parents, an authorization to leave the country may be required according to the regulations of the country of residence.

Entry conditions may vary depending on nationality. Concerned travelers should inquire with the embassy or consulate of Colombia in their country of residence.
