The spirit of travel

We have designed a 7-day itinerary through one of Nepal's most pristine regions: Mustang. The desert landscapes surrounded by snow-capped peaks will give you the impression of having left Nepal. A stay that will fulfill your need for thrills, while discovering Tibetan culture and incredible lunar landscapes.

The electric mountain bike makes the activity accessible to everyone. Very easy to use, when the slope becomes steep, the electric motor takes over and you can fully enjoy the scenery before you.

Along the trails, cross fortified villages, canyons carved by the wind and high-altitude plateaus offering exceptional panoramas of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs. Buddhist monasteries, chörtens and prayer flags bear witness to a Tibetan culture that has remained intact over the centuries. Each day alternates effort, discovery and contemplation in an extraordinary natural environment. An original adventure that combines freedom, sport and cultural immersion in the heart of one of the last Himalayan kingdoms.

Kagdebi - Muktinath

After an early breakfast, you begin with a climb of almost 1,000 m. The region is dry and arid, almost desert-like with mountains standing out on the horizon: a breathtaking landscape.

You meet hikers and pilgrims from India heading to Muktinath, one of the most revered Hindu temples in the world. Once at Muktinath, you explore the religious site and observe the eternal flame that burns thanks to its natural gas source.

"Mukti" means liberation and "nath" means sacred temple, so Muktinath is considered a temple allowing the liberation of the soul. Besides hermits and Hindu pilgrims, you will also see Tibetan merchants.

Jour 6
D6

Muktinath - Samar

You start your walk after breakfast around 8:30 am. You take the trail that leads to Muktinath temple, but turn left towards the Gyu La pass (4030 m).

The beginning of the trail climbs gradually. You traverse magnificent landscapes surrounded by the Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, Nilgiri and to the south the Annapurna massif. Once at the summit, enjoy the view before an incredible descent of around 1000 m towards the Kali Gandaki river and head towards the village of Tetang which nestles behind these giant hills. You climb to Chusang where you have lunch and recharge your batteries before riding 2 more hours to Samar where you spend the night.

Jour 7
D7

Samar - Tsarang

Today the path leading to Bhena becomes rocky. You climb until you see the multicolored Tibetan prayer flags making you understand that you have arrived at the pass. After having your tea and admiring the view of a small village you head towards Nyi La (4000 m) and then begin the descent to Ghemi (3570 m). The village is magnificent with tiny streets and large houses.

After lunch, you head to Tsarang by recently constructed and zigzagging gravel roads. It is a large village with piles of stones separating the houses. The very popular Tsarang Dzong resides in this village which was built in 1378. This immense five-story monastery is the highest point of the region with the Gelugpa school and has one of the largest libraries in the entire region. Along with this, the monastery also has statues and prayer halls.

Jour 8
D8

Lo Manthang, the famous

You are heading today towards the famous Lo manthang by starting on a trail that leads to a small river. From there you climb steadily in a rocky environment and follow the Thuling Khola. Once the canyon is crossed, you continue pedaling in the middle of an incredible landscape that gives you the impression of being in Tibet. As you continue to venture into desert plains, you reach Lo La (3960 m) where you will have a magnificent view of snow-capped peaks. You can also see the incredible fortified city of Lo. The monastery inside Lo dates back to the 13th century and can be visited.

Jour 9

You continue your route to Ghami where you spend the night.

The information below concerns travelers who are nationals of the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, and Canada traveling to Nepal for a tourist stay. Since entry rules may change, we recommend that you verify this information with the official authorities before your departure.

Passport

To enter Nepal, your passport must be valid for a minimum of six months from the date of entry into the country and must have at least two blank pages for immigration stamps.
The document must be in good condition (no damaged, torn, or altered pages).

Tourist visa

Unlike some destinations, Nepal does not grant visa exemptions to nationals of the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and Canada. A tourist visa is mandatory to enter the territory.

This visa can be obtained in two ways:

  • On arrival (visa on arrival): available at the main entry points, notably Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and certain land border crossings. It is strongly recommended to complete the application form online before departure to facilitate procedures on site.

  • Online before departure: via the official online visa system of the Nepalese government (online visa application), allowing you to obtain prior authorization to present upon arrival.

Official rates are as follows:

  • 15 days: 30 USD

  • 30 days: 50 USD

  • 90 days: 125 USD

Payment is generally made in cash (USD, EUR, or other accepted currencies) or by credit card depending on the entry points. It is advisable to have US dollars in cash for payment on site.

The authorities may also request:

  • an exit ticket from the territory (return flight or onward journey),

  • proof of sufficient financial resources for the duration of your stay.

Online arrival form

Before your arrival, it is recommended to complete the online arrival form available on the official portal of the Nepalese government. This form allows you to provide immigration authorities with:

  • passport information

  • flight details

  • the address of your first accommodation in Nepal

A digital confirmation or a reference code may be requested when passing through immigration or at the visa issuance counter upon arrival.

Special permits for trekking areas

Certain regions of Nepal require additional permits in addition to the tourist visa:

  • the TIMS (Trekkers' Information Management System): mandatory for most trekking itineraries,

  • national park or conservation area permits (e.g., Sagarmatha for Everest, Annapurna Conservation Area),

  • restricted zone permits for certain specific destinations such as Mustang, Dolpo, or Manaslu.

These permits are generally obtained in Kathmandu or Pokhara from the relevant offices.

Health and vaccinations

No vaccine is mandatory to enter Nepal, except in case of arrival from a country at risk of yellow fever. However, several vaccinations are strongly recommended by health authorities:

  • hepatitis A and B,

  • typhoid,

  • diphtheria-tetanus-poliomyelitis (DTP),

  • rabies (especially for extended stays or in remote areas),

  • Japanese encephalitis (depending on areas and season).

Preventive antimalarial treatment may be recommended for certain low-altitude regions (Terai). It is advisable to consult a doctor or international vaccination center at least four to six weeks before departure.

Traveling with children

Minors must hold their own valid passport covering the duration of the stay, as well as their own tourist visa.

In certain European countries, when a minor travels without one of their parents, an exit authorization from the territory may be required according to the regulations of the country of residence.

Other nationalities

Entry conditions may vary depending on nationality. Travelers concerned should inquire with the embassy or consulate of Nepal in their country of residence.
