After breakfast, you head towards Butare/Huye, with a first stop at the Royal Palace of Nyanza, also called Museum of Ancient Rwandan History.
Housed in the former palace of King Mutara III, in Nyanza, this site immerses you in the world of Rwanda's traditional monarchical system. The palace has been reconstructed identically with local materials, as it appeared in the 19th century, and comprises three traditional huts.
Among the striking features of the museum, you discover the royal cattle with long horns, called Inyambo, symbols of royal prestige in Rwandan culture.
Near the traditional palace is also the modern palace built in 1931, where King Mutara lived until his death in 1959. This building includes several rooms with distinct functions, notably a living room, a dining room and a cellar.

After this visit, you continue on the road to Butare, an important town in the Huye district, where you discover the Ethnographic Museum of Rwanda.
This museum plays a central role in research and education in Rwanda. It is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the country's ethnographic and archaeological collections, offering an insight into Rwandan history and traditions.

This stay takes you to discover the majestic Nyungwe Forest, a natural space recognized for its ecological richness and its hiking trails.
You have the opportunity to observe chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes schweinfurthii), primates belonging to the family of hominids and considered to be mankind's closest genetic relatives. These animals display physical, emotional and mental traits close to our own, as well as comparable social behaviors, which makes their observation particularly interesting in their natural environment.

Despite their imposing size, these gorillas remain calm and peaceful, pursuing their activities in the forest during your observation.
The duration of the hike depends on the location of the group, and can vary between 2 and 6 hours.
