Day 1Welcome to Phnom Penh!

  • Your driver will be waiting for you at the airport. Then transfer to your hotel for check-in, and free time to rest.

Day 2Phnom Penh, a buzzing capital city

  • In the morning, visit the National Museum, and discover one of the largest collections of Khmer art: 14,000 sculptures and ethnographic items, gathered for the most part from the Angkor temples.

  • Visit the Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda, true gems of the Khmer architecture built in the middle of the 19th century.

  • In the afternoon, visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21) that used to be the largest detention and torture center under Pol Pot's regime. The premises reveal a painful chapter of the Cambodian history.

  • Visit Phnom Penh's Central Market and/or Russian Market if there's enough time after the previous visits (markets close rather early)

Day 3Stopover in Kampong Cham

Phnom Penh - Kampong Cham

  • In the morning, transfer with your driver to Kampong Cham. The small city is ideally located on the banks of the Mekong river, and offers a nice stroll along the quay with beautiful panoramic sceneries. Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel and free time to relax.

  • At the intersection of the national roads N6 and N7, brace yourselves to fully enjoy a "culinary" pit stop in the small town of Skun, renowned for its grilled spiders and insects.

  • In the afternoon, discover the manufacturing process of natural rubber by visiting hevea plantations and the Chup factory.

Day 4The Irrawaddy dolphins

Kampong Cham - Kratie

  • In the morning, transfer with your guide to Kratie. On your arrival, check-in, rest and free time.

  • Hop on a small boat to look for the Irrawaddy dolphins, one of the rare species of fresh water dolphins.

  • Back in Kratie, explore the Koh Trong Island conveniently sitting in the middle of the Mekong River. Check the Khmer traditional village, observe the villagers' daily lifestyle, and visit the nice pagoda and the floating village.

Day 5Transfer by private car to Sen Monorom

  • In the morning, hit the road towards Sen Monorom. On arrival, hotel check-in and time for rest.

Day 6Discovery of the Bousra waterfalls

  • Discover the city and the surrounding area with a local guide. In the morning, start with a small cascade in the middle of nature. Then, continue with the Bousra waterfalls, the highest and most gorgeous in all Cambodia : flowing down across 3 different levels, the falls offer a breathtaking view and a natural pool for you to enjoy.

    In the afternoon, visit a local indigenous village to observe the traditional lifestyle and exchange with the locals.

    Continue with the visit of the Coffee Plantation Resort to learn more about the production of "black gold", from growing coffee plants to the cropping & torrefaction stages.

    Your guide will then take you to a local pagoda where animists come to pray, and make offerings and sacrifices. On your way, a stop in a particular spot will offer a panoramic view of the beautiful Mondulkiri province.

Day 7Start of the elephant trek

  • In the morning, transfer to the elephant sanctuary where you will have two days to observe and understand the pachyderms’ everyday life and discover the local tribe’s culture and traditions.

    The day will start with the feeding of the elephants that you will observe later in the jungle. Then, you will bathe in a waterfall with them. Also, you will rest and observe the wildlife from the sanctuary’s « Jungle Lodge ».

    You will spend the night in a hammock with a mosquito net in the Mondulkiri Project Lodge.

Day 8Trek continues and ends

  • You will hike all day with a guide from the Bunong ethnic group, a unique chance to see wild deers and rare species of monkeys. The hike will lead you to a waterfall where you can swim and to the Leng Ret cave hosting a bat population. Then, you will visit Bunong farms producing wild rice, fruits, vegetables and herbs.

    On the evening, enjoy a traditional meal with the local tribe where you can taste rice wine around a camp fire at the Jungle Lodge.

Day 9By the Mekong River, near the border with Laos

Sen Monorom - Steung Treng

Day 12The Majestic Angkor Temples

Siem Reap - Angkor Wat

  • Visit Angkor Wat, the largest and most important temple of the Angkor site.

  • Discover Bayon and its towers with gigantic faces ; Baphuon and its huge 40-meter reclining Buddha statue, Phimeanakas, the Terrace of the Elephants and its great diversity of sculptures.

    Then, visit Ta Prohm known for its huge trees with tremendous roots and Pre Rup to admire the sunset from the heights of the temple.

Day 13The immensity of the Tonle Sap lake

Siem Reap - Tonle Sap - River boats

  • In the morning, transfer to Kampong Pluk village located on the Tonle Sap lake, about 1h from Siem Reap by car. You will embark on a private boat to discover and visit floating villages.

    Note: During the dry season, the excursion may be replaced by another visit depending on the water level.

  • In the afternoon, visit Artisans Angkor and discover the traditional Khmer handicraft (stone or wood sculptures, lacquer, silver, ceramic...). Originally created to help young people to find work near their village, "Artisans Angkor" has since opened 48 workshops in the province of Siem Reap and employs more than 1100 people, including more than 800 artisans.

Day 14The "Tomb Raider" temple & the women citadel

Ta Promh - Banteay Srey

  • In the morning, visit Ta Prohm known for its huge trees with tremendous roots. It also appeared in the movie "Tomb Raider".

Banteay Srey - Siem Reap

  • In the afternoon, continue with the visit of Banteay Srey temple, smaller than the gigantic Angkor Wat or Bayon. This pink sandstone temple nicknamed "The Citadel of Women" is known for the refinement of bas-reliefs and sculptures that adorn its walls and columns.

    Then, discover the Banteay Samre temple.

Day 15En route to Battambang !

Siem Reap - Battambang

  • In the morning, transfer to Battambang.

  • On the road, discover the silk factory of Pouk and the process of the silk production : from the plantation of the mulberry trees and the farming of the silkworms, to weaving and finished products available for sale.

  • Continue by the visit of the Banon temple on the top of a hill which offers a wonderful view over the Khmer countryside. Through the traditional villages along the road, you can observe the locals cooking rice wrappers and talk with them about their daily life.

Day 16Battambang, a charming city

  • In the morning, visit the circus school of the association Phare Ponleu Sekpak (PPS), "the Light of Arts" and meet talented young Cambodians (closed on weekends and holidays).

  • Visit one of the last traditional houses of Battambang with a Khmer architecture. Made of wood, it still houses period utensils.

  • Discover the Phnom Sampov temple. Stay there until sunset to watch the flight of the bats an their incredible show in the air.

  • Arrived at Battambang, go for a walk through the many villages around the city. It is the chance to observe the locals producing the typical cambodian prahoc (very odorous fish paste).

Day 17Stop over in Phnom Penh

Battambang - Pursat

  • In the morning, transfer to Phnom Penh.

  • On the road, in Pursat, discover the stonemasons, marble workers and cabinetmakers. Visit the workshops to admire their talent and buy souvenirs at the shops.

Kampong Chhnang - Phnom Penh

  • About 10 kilometers from Kampong Chhnang, discover the know-how of the potters. The traditional village has been famous for centuries for its clay pots sold throughout the whole country. The tools have been modernized but the know-how still remains, from generation to generation.
